Leonard Peikoff Quote

“Contrary to the Marxists, the Nazis did not advocate public ownership of the means of production. They did demand that the government oversee and run the nation’s economy. The issue of legal ownership, they explained, is secondary; what counts is the issue of control. Private citizens, therefore, may continue to hold titles to property—so long as the state reserves to itself the unqualified right to regulate the use of their property.”

Corporations are legally a bifurcation of ownership and control. A corporation's day to day activities fall to private operations under government auspices, authority and ultimate direction while, legal ownership remains with, an aloof from We The People, government. In totalitarian regimes, no private competition to corporations are allowed (by way of example: the public sale of a trust's beneficial interest) A title represents a specie of privilege with marketability while perfect ownership denotes the non-ability to confiscate under any condition. While the State, in toto aloof from We The People, owns all property, allowing only title or license, it will continue to reign supreme as the statist means of production (a socialist state, administered somewhat contrary to Marxist thought).

An exact parallel to American, Canadian, British, Australian and New Zealand Governments. (And a few more I'm sure) The Right of Property enshrined in a system of justice would right a very many wrongs. If you have no right to property in law...then you have no rights over your own body...which is your very first piece of property.

I dont understand why there are so many people who view socialistic/statist governing as the caring, right way to go, when all of history shows that such controlling governments always become criminal.

Land use laws are prevalent in the USA now, so farmers can barely farm in some states as it takes a permit to cut a tree, a permit to plow a field, a permit to have cattle/sheep/chickens/pigs near springs and creeks, we are no different here than Peikoff's quote already...and where is the protest? Small!...we have citizens with herd mentality. They have been dumbed down in school and we as parents weren't getting it...it is they that will suffer, the next generations...and it will be our fault. We are not who we say we are in this country...it has become a sham...hopefully, people will snap out of it...and more will join the fight for freedom...or be led like lambs to slaughter.

I think this quote is exactly right. It expresses no opinon just states the facts. I give it a five for correctness of stating facts.

Glad to see that you can agree with facts, Waffler. Let's see if you are willing to witness the parallels of Nazi Germany and the policies of Obama today. (Heck, the GOP are as much to blame.) While intentions may have been good, the centralization of economic power and control of private property is not something we have entrusted our government with as we cannot trust anyone with that much power. History shows that while a nation may prosper under a good and benevolent king, all happiness and prosperity can be destroyed by an inept and controlling monarch. That is why in America we struck off the shackles of monarchy and centralized control in favor of personal responsibility and distributed power according to republican (not to be confused with the GOP) principles.
