A civilized state is only recognized if it takes care of it's children, the elderly and those that are infirmed, how do we do that unless the government is involved - do we throw them out with the bath water. Where is America going if we allow 45 million citizens (twice that on a day-to-day basis) without healthcare. Where is America going if we are the 26th nation in the world with regard to our new-born mortality rate. Where is America going if we allow more deaths of our citizens by firearms than any other nation - the list goes on. By the way, the Frenchman and German are not complaining about their system. 2Reply Robert, Sarasota 3/10/05 re: Robert Welch quote This sentiment though not direct indirectly leads to fascism 1 Reply Robert, Sarasota 2/22/05 re: W. Lance Bennett quote Sadly true. It’s simple; wealthy conglomerates start to own the news media, they need legislation to benefit their empire and personal desires; so, to get what they want they pander to the politicians with grand donations and news that benefits their political position, in return the politicians push through an individual's corporate and personal legislative agenda. What we are left with is a news media without any backbone, and an animal without a backbone cannot fight for the people. We must regain the Founding Fathers dream and free ourselves from this current road to disaster. 1 Reply Robert, Sarasota 2/22/05 re: William Godwin quote Another great quote. Give them the tools to be wise, ethics, love, and friendship; these are all in EDUCATION... Bring back a classical education and you will start to have ethical leaders again. Reply Robert, Sarasota 2/22/05 re: Robert G. Ingersoll quote Excellent! You can include 95% of the human race in this category. This is exactly why education is paramount and under NO circumstances should its funding be dimished. Reply Robert, Sarasota 2/10/05 re: John Sherman quote This parallels our politics since 1945 Reply Robert, Sarasota 2/8/05 re: Aristotle quote I think someone said “the second giant leap for mankind (the first being the industrial revolution) is when we no longer contrive to survive” Was it Shaw? 16Reply Robert, Sarasota 2/8/05 re: Sir Josiah Stamp quote Its not banks that are the problem but those who own them - the form is never the problem. RBE Reply Robert, Sarasota 2/8/05 re: Marcus Tullius Cicero quote Without an endless stream of money there would be no war so sinews are a very conservative example.
