Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/24/06 re: H. L. Mencken quote Sad but true - there is no enemy worst than ourselves. Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/20/06 re: David Reisman quote Perfect! Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/20/06 re: Aristotle quote Why isn't he running for President. 1 Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/19/06 re: Justice Warren E. Burger quote Excellent! Yes, tell me why the Christian Right hate gays so much perhaps they should be let out of the closet. If only the Judges could leave their politics at home and remember why they are a Judge. 21Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/19/06 re: Justice Hugo L. Black quote Bravo Reston. Otherwise why have a Constitution - America is as from a social experiment as China is with the Child reform act. If you call social security, and programs that help the disadvantaged a social experiment I'm all for it. Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/19/06 re: Justice Benjamin Cardozo quote Though, with a correction ..."should be"...preserved 1 Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/19/06 re: Milton Friedman quote David, no you have it wrong it's the Republicans that rape the coffers of Social Security Fund (this fund was created by the Liberals) and then blame the Democrats. It's all there to be seen let me know if you need back-up. This has always been the GOP MO do it and then go on the offensive and blame the Democrats - the examples are endless... We have 68% who do not approve of the job Bush is doing - until we change our system we will continue to have Presidents that would not pass one hour in open dabate. I like the way the Republicabs hand over the country every eight years for the Democrats to clean up the mess they left behind and what a mess they will leave behind this time. Though I may be wrong, they may use those ........... voting machines again. 1 Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/18/06 re: Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. quote Yes, MLK was a wonderful individual - he could of converted me but alas I did not know him so I remain an Atheist; Buddha is still my way, along which I find peace. Much of his world was taken up with Vedic traditions and those date 2000 BC i interesting enough one of the Vedic prays is "behave towards others as you would behave unto yourself" Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/18/06 re: Bill Clinton quote That's more like a Bush statement - I can't believe Clinton said it - I agree with Mike. At least having sex with a consenting female (and not a boy) he didn't kill 3000 of our armed forces and wounded over 30,000 and that is just the tip of the iceberg. Our nation is presently corrupt and totally without a foreign policy that works. The actions of the Bush administration have created more terrorists we are providing them with the very tools for recruitment - I wish for the days of Clinton - OK he may have said some silly things but looking at above I see we are no different. Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/17/06 re: Jimmy Carter quote Bravo Reston Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/17/06 re: George Mason quote Bravo Reston Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/17/06 re: Jimmy Carter quote But it's tough going... Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/17/06 re: George Mason quote What a myth - All men (and women) are not created equally, free and independent. Tell that to a new-born child with AIDS and whose parents have just been killed. When will we stop this ridiculous rhetoric and start getting off our buts to do something about it. We talk like this while Darfur is allowed to happen – write your representative and tell them to divert some of the billions goings to contractors in Iraq where a bag of laundry cost $100 (please see Iraq for Sale). Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/17/06 re: Milton Friedman quote Amen Jack, Logan, and E - The trouble is that the conservatives can NEVER take responsibility for there own Watch they ALWAYS blame it on the Democrats or Liberals. The Democrats ALWAYS came back to save the day. We won two WW and we continue to save America from its own greed. 12Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/16/06 re: Milton Friedman quote Then they are not Liberals... I thought brownshirts were the product of a fascist army like Hitler and Mussolini. I wouldn't call kids storming a stage (I think it happened twice) brownshirst. Ken, I suppose you are against social security. Fortunately there are many Liberal Republicans otherwise we would be a real trouble. There are also many Conservative Democrats lets just revert back to the definition of words and not rely on the media or personal agendas. 12Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/16/06 re: Milton Friedman quote Immorality is the domain of the Republican Party - the list is endless with fraud, child abuse, corruption, greed, murder, etc., etc. Leave Liberalism alone it can defend itself very easily against and compared with the current administration. Without Liberalism America would be another despot, another quagmire of corruption, fascism, and fundamentalism. Washington and Jefferson were only a few there were many other liberals that were the very foundation of America. Alas, if we are not careful all that will be lost to greed and we will slip into the annals of the shortest lived empire. It's amazing how the far-right attack Liberals by the very things they themselves are perpetuating. The fascists were very clever of this type of propaganda and it's going on today -- when you have a one party state and winner takes all what else would you expect. This last 6 years has shown a steady decline along all fronts of humanitarianism and world peace. O we have so much to learn and I wonder if we are able to advance and pull ourselves out from this desperate situation we are in today. 3 Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/16/06 re: John Quincy Adams quote Yes, but this can be abused - "most" is relative with regards to those they crush under the yoke individual liberty. 1 Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/16/06 re: Milton Friedman quote His words are not what really matter - what matters is the intent and the heart that expressed them. The world today is fast becoming a pit of inequality - this, more than any other time, is being spearheaded by the current administration. The world sees the corruption and greed in America and how easy it is to manipulate its people with convenient sound bites - if the worlds most powerful country can behave in this manner then let's follow them - what's good the Elephant is good for the Gander. Please, please, bring back the Liberals before we sink into oblivion. Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/13/06 re: Edwin M. Schur quote Excellent! One day the bell will toll for you. Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/13/06 re: Carl Schurz quote O dear we have so far to go, I just hope there is enough runway."...springs identity of our highest interests..." how true of today. This is highly subjective - one man's right's is another man's injustice. It's time we tried another approach - let's not bury our head in the sand with our guns and rights. 1 Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/10/06 re: Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission quote Third world here we come get ready for us. 1 Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/9/06 re: Will Durant quote This is an excellent definition Reply Robert, Sarasota 10/6/06 re: Henry Steele Commager quote Well said Dick - to be a Liberal also means you think of the less fortunate - greed in not a characteristic.
