I do agree, it is a misuse of the word "compassion" but it conveys the intent.. Socialism, for instance, exists in America but not for the people but for corporatism and big government. Our military, government, and the banks, are the biggest recipients of socialism NOT THE PEOPLE. The hypocrisy in America is rampant at the water cooler.... 1Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 5/23/16 re: John C. Danforth quote RBE - I'm beginning to think I have a clone in SRQ - spot on! Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 5/23/16 re: Dr. Walter Block quote BS- Where is the prosperity for the average American of which 47% live pay-check to pay-check - you talk to them about free trade and you may get your ears clipped. The big problem with free trade is that it operates in the interest of the corporate conglomerates and not in the interest of the people. In essence, there is no such thing as FREE TRADE. The working class and the poor always pay the price of corporate greed. And the money flowing into the pockets of the lobbyists (political prostitutes) and then to the legislators is proof enough that it is not in the best interest of the people but the corporatism/capitalists. The day is coming fast when the people will take back their country from corporatism, and the fiat economy.... The whole system stinks and will implode as all things do that cannot be contained.... Free Trade, capitalism, greed, and corruption, all sleep in the same bed.... http://www.wnd.com/2012/10/the-utopian-evil-of-free-trade/ 12Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 5/20/16 re: Ludwig von Mises quote Coming from Mises this quote is understandable for Mises was uneducated in the world of reality and love. His theories are gradually crumbling and it's only the die-hard capitalist and libertarian that support his works.. Their saving grace would be to refocus their philosophical rhetoric to encompass a more compassionate and empathetic society. I'm sorry, but Mises and Rothbard are now not in focus with today's world. Mike, I couldn't agree with you more - you just can't fix stupid. The main socialist programs in American are for the military, and the corporate conglomerates who pay hardly any taxes. capitalism in America is gradually strangling it's own survival - it's a train heading for the end of the line at full speed. The ONLY true existence for any government that wishes to remain in power is to incorporate a more compassionate philosophy. It's not enough for individuals to say "Ah, but I give a lot" then why is America the worse country in the West for poverty 47% and healthcare. Why in America is the gap in salaries between corporate executives and the people the biggest (by far) than any western nation. We have the most expensive military in the world without any enemies on our borders. We talk of trillions and yesterday it was billions. We have the worst incarceration record for a so-called civilized nation. Our infrastructure is crumbling - our very social fabrication is on the verge of disintegration. If we continue with mediocrity and our present foreign policies then we are heading for Armageddon. We must STOP what we are doing, as what we are currently doing, is not working! The Mises philosophy is antiquated and a new era of society is called for - now all you great brains out there - do something about - don't stay on you computers writing gloss pros; get out there and roll up your sleeves - we need action now, not words! 2Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 5/20/16 re: Frederic Bastiat quote Fortunately, for republicans, its the Liberals that uphold the law... otherwise their would be no Republicans. 2Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 5/20/16 re: Frederic Bastiat quote Yes, capitalism, by its very nature, is the enemy of the people, because it cannot be controlled. Its nature is to gobble up all competition for the sake of profit and in the process screw the people. That scenario can only last while the printing press continues to spew a fiat economy and the people lose their fear of the government. The major cement in the works is the propaganda machine and the military industrial complex, but that is crumbling. Hence the reason the war mongers Hillary and her neo-con buddies are beating the drums of was - their very existence depends on it! But, I see cracks in the wall on the hill and the people are becoming restless and angry.... Our only hope is if Bernie is nominated as he will trounce Trump and Hillary would lose. Bernie for President....... 11Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 5/17/16 re: Richard Rumbold quote A real example of the millions that are ridden each day by their corporate and tyrannical masters... we will only evolve as a species once we have thrown away the saddles and reins.. The tea party is just another group waiting their turn - lets hope it never happens.... Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 5/16/16 re: Jeremy Bentham quote The House of Commons also comes to mind: Order, Order, the chair would shout..... when the benches got rowdy... Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 5/16/16 re: Jeremy Bentham quote I agree with my past name RBESRQ (this use to be my name on this site - whoever pinched it, you are more than welcome to it!) Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 5/13/16 re: Jean-Jacques Rousseau quote Perfect! Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 5/13/16 re: Florynce Kennedy quote The ONLY true way, is the rights of individuals - it is these rights that are being take away from us, bit by bit - It's time for us to revolt against the neo-cons, and their pathological leaders... It's time to take back our individuality...... 1Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 5/10/16 re: Mark Steyn quote Like the plutocrats of all empires they become greedy off the backs of the people and eventually collapse because capitalism cannot continue in a finite world.... It can only continue when there is tit for tat... (and attitude of reciprocity). 6Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 5/9/16 re: Ludwig von Mises quote This has been proven socially now to be a mistake! Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 5/4/16 re: Barry Goldwater quote I see Bernie in Barry..... If we can overcome the Fed and the DNC we may stand a chance of our survival.... 1 Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 5/3/16 re: Boston Federal Reserve Bank quote Yes, they create money from debt... Oh! you want a trillion, no problem, wait a moment while I go into my computer. VoilĂ , done! Oh yes, it's easy to lose three trillion dollars, just get a plane (or missile) to hit the DOD accounts department... Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 5/1/16 re: Thomas Jefferson quote My suggestion to Liberty Quotes is to put quotes into the context of which they were expressed! 1Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 5/1/16 re: Thomas Jefferson quote These quotes (taken out of context) are totally out of order in a modern society, of even in a society of TJ 's time..... Thank you JP for reminding us of the full quote. Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 5/1/16 re: Isabel Paterson quote Stupid gentleman! 1Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 4/28/16 re: Judge Learned Hand quote Unfortunately, the rich and big corporation can pay to get around the law, which poor people are unable to do. Immorality, is also party of the equation - immorality, may (a big may) have nothing to do with abiding by the law but it has everything to do with the lives of a community. If you ship jobs abroad so you get labor at 5 cents on the dollar and avoid paying social security, healthcare, unemployment, etc. etc. and into the bargain, totally devastate a small community, then you make the world homologous without individual or state cultural differences. This makes the rich and corporations richer but leaves the people in the poor house. 1 Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 4/28/16 re: Christopher Darlington Morley quote Duh! Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 4/28/16 re: Auguste Comte quote Wow! as a Liberal I must agree! what a first! Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 4/27/16 re: Lyn Nofziger quote A quote without intellect! Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 4/24/16 re: Alfredo Rocco quote The day we get rid of religion will be the day we can all come to the table and discuss problems intelligently and peacefully. The World overnight will belong to all of us as individuals and our creative power will be allowed to flourish.. It will be an enlightenment of the kind never seen before... Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 4/22/16 re: Ayn Rand quote Sorry, another wrong quote - see my previous comment..... Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 4/22/16 re: Alfredo Rocco quote Wrong:The people on this blog, with the exception of a few, have no idea of the true meaning of Liberalism or Socialism: Please let me educate you. This is from Bertrand Russell:Perhaps the essence of the Liberal outlook could be summed up in a new decalogue, not intended to replace the old one but only to supplement it. The Ten Commandments that, as a teacher, I should wish to promulgate, might be set forth as follows:Do not feel absolutely certain of anything.Do not think it worth while to proceed by concealing evidence, for the evidence is sure to come to light.Never try to discourage thinking for you are sure to succeed. When you meet with opposition, even if it should be from your husband or your children, endeavor to overcome it by argument and not by authority, for a victory dependent upon authority is unreal and illusory.Have no respect for the authority of others, for there are always contrary authorities to be found.Do not use power to suppress opinions you think pernicious, for if you do the opinions will suppress you.Do not fear to be eccentric in opinion, for every opinion now accepted was once eccentric.Find more pleasure in intelligent dissent than in passive agreement, for, if you value intelligence as you should, the former implies a deeper agreement than the latter.Be scrupulously truthful, even if the truth is inconvenient, for it is more inconvenient when you try to conceal it.Do not feel envious of the happiness of those who live in a fools paradise, for only a fool will think that it is happiness.and this is from the Free Dictionary:1. The state or quality of being liberal.2.a. A political theory founded on the natural goodness of humans and the autonomy of the individual and favoring civil and political liberties, government by law with the consent of the governed, and protection from arbitrary authority.b. often Liberalism The tenets or policies of a Liberal party.3. An economic theory in favor of laissez-faire, the free market, and the gold standard.4. Liberalisma. A 19th-century Protestant movement that favored free intellectual inquiry, stressed the ethical and humanitarian content of Christianity, and de-emphasized dogmatic theology.b. A 19th-century Roman Catholic movement that favored political democracy and ecclesiastical reform but was theologically orthodox.I hope this helps everyone. Your disdain for Liberals, I hope, has been tempered... Next 25 SaveOk2 Share on Facebook Tweet Email Print
