We have men today who remember with pride the American leadership at the Nuremburg Trials that convicted Nazi mass murderers and laid the basis for new and vital principles of international law, but who vehemently denounce critics of US allies who use tactics very similar to those of the Nazis in oppressing victims of oppression who dare lift their heads to call our attention. In that sense, von Hayek could be seen as prescient. But, alas, that is not what he meant. He was denouncing the establishment of limits on a man's freedom to squeese the life out of his fellow citizens after eating their seed corn.
