James Wermuth, what mess ? The "public good" as a stand alone rationalization or moral imperative, is at best an oxymoron and at worst, a criminal justification.

I have never seen it practiced other than in a form of totalitarianism. If you have a good and wise king, then the people may prosper -- but good kings are hard to find! ;-)

Its time we start becoming more self aware of our true obligations and realize our true social consciousness. We must all strive in the direction of recovery of the public good. Socialism is the challenge of social abilities to create.
