Benito MussoliniBenito Mussolini, (1883-1945) Italian dictator during WW2, founder of Italian Fascism, 'Il Duce'

Benito Mussolini Quote

“The Government has been compelled to levy taxes which unavoidably hit large sections of the population. The Italian people are disciplined, silent and calm, they work and know that there is a Government which governs, and know, above all, that if this Government hits cruelly certain sections of the Italian people, it does not so out of caprice, but from the supreme necessity of national order.”

About as un-American as you can get, yet this is what our government expects ... to tax us to death while we remain silent and calm. Complacency and apathy are destroying our Republic, and our government is assisting in that destruction, as surely as any terrorist.

Anonymous, Reston, VA US

About as American as you can get, that we have a shared societal concern for those less fortunate than ourselves, and that we as a society need to provide not only for the defense of that society from outside military forces, but also from internal, self centered financial elite. Yes, our society is under attack by a terrorist organization... and it is commonly called "big business" and "the filthy rich".

Funny how the main socialist promoting blogger on here gives 5 stars to Mussolini... For Socialism to fully work, it would take a dictator - funny how that sounds a lot like fascism. ..laughs.. Wow - this just in - Republicans and Democrats are A LOT ALIKE.

E Archer, NYC

This is the exact argument Anon from Reston uses to justify more taxes. It doesn't seem to matter that it is the very definition of fascism. If only we could be as compassionate as the fascists, everything could be as good as the 'good old days' -- just hope that you are the right color, religion, etc. -- otherwise, you might just end up in a mass grave.

Anyone notice lately how sympathetic Italy has become toward socialism?

Terry Berg, Occidental, CA

"... that if this Government hits cruelly certain sections of the Italian people" may just be the dead giveaway to the fact that the taxes levied were designed to be unevenly burdensome.

When Musolini's car struck and killed a child, he said: "What is the life of one in the affairs of state?" As for Joe above and his comments on taxes, it is impossible to pay taxes with dollar bills that the IRS said "are not dollars" and impossible to pay with credit, The Fed said their system :works only with credit." No one wants us to pay taxes. They want us to believe that we pay taxes, They have no need for tax mioney when all of us will risk our lives or even die for weightless credit. The head of the New York Fed gave a speech in 1944 saying "taxation for revenue is obsolete,: www.morpix.biz/x17

A supreme trio of quotes for the day. I pick Benito's because it displays the wily charm of a leader doing a sham apology to the citizens. In that it is a gem! There are times when frank honesty, whatever the ulterior motives, is the best way. If "Ben" made an error it was one of hubris when he hooked up with Adolph. The classic quote on Ben is, "He made the trains run on time." He defined his nation as all peoples may be described. After all, we simply want our governments to work. They must be there when we need them. They must be a positive force for good. From personal experience I have learned that the people will accept a burden if they know that it is necessary and will have a long term benefit for them. If you make your case honestly, they may grumble, but they will sign on. If you fail to deliver, you are dead meat. Ben knew that! He got caught by a more wily player and we all know the result. While Germany was divided in half for many decades, Italy was left to dog paddle in its own pollutted pond. there is justice in the end.

Fascist Dictator. No wonder the Italian people hung him from a meat hook.

Reston, Va-I can see why you want to remain anonymous. Charity is to be given by the individual. Our forefathers never set up our government for charity. Self preservation is what built our nation!

Why do you think that Italians have two sets of books; one is reality and the other for the tax collector - corporate America and the wealthy caught onto that a long time ago.

    Waffler, Smith

Taxes should never be out of caprice but only out of necessity. Centuries earlier the Hungarians proclaimed that they would gladly pay more taxes if their beloved high tax leader King Mathias would rise from the grave. He saved his country from the Muslim hordes by raising taxes on rich and poor alike and also raising an army that was up to the national challenge. The world is full of cowards who cannot even define a problem let alone take the necessary political and financial actions to solve it. That is how Harry Truman got into politics in Missouri. His political opponets sat and rung their hands in despair as Independence suffered with bad or no roads. Harry got elected, raised taxes, fixed the roads, business picked up and the rest is history. I don't defend Benito but the quote in and of itself as far as caprice and necessity is right on correct.

Oh, my! To me, this man was not too smart. He was deceived by Hitler and, unfortunately,at the end of the day, had to get what he got.

    E Archer, NYC

Waffler, have you started to realize from your own posts how fascist your principles actually are? You don't care for Mussolini or Hitler, but you nearly always agree with them while at the same time claiming to honor Jefferson, Adams, and Washington but giving thumbs down to their principles. Just wondering if you are aware of your own self-delusion...

    Waffler, Smith

You have previously stated your abhorrence of ad hominem arguments or discussions. Now are you defending ad hominem arguments. Why don't you get your own act straight Archer. A non thinking sycophant is what you appear to be with your above post.

Anonymous, Reston, you left out "government".

    Mike, Norwalk

King George the torturer, Mr. Obamunist Goodwrench the assassin, Mussolini, Hitler, etc., all following the same mentality and philosophy (as Anonymous states above – no regard for life). By way of example, the recient false flag event in Boston complete with the resulting marshal law.

    E Archer, NYC

Waffler, I have not made an ad hominem argument about you -- I have merely noticed that you agree with Mussolini in principle as well as Hitler on numerous occasions and have disagreed with Jefferson and other key founders. I was simply wondering if you have noticed it -- I am sure others have. It comes across as hypocritical and ignorant.
