C. Wright Mills Quote

“If you do not specify and confront real issues, what you will do will surely obscure them. If you do not alarm anyone morally, you will yourself remain morally asleep. If you do not embody controversy, what you say will be an acceptance of the drift to the coming human hell.”

~ C. Wright Mills

Nicely put.

Yes, in the times when truth is "out the window"... it is precisely this sentiment that is needed to bring it back and avoid the drift to "the coming human hell".

These are the words of an individual who has "seen" Truth.

Yes -- even though 'morality' means different things to different people.

This is another way of expressing an often misunderstood axiom, "It takes an exception to prove the rule" What that really means is, it takes an exception to TEST the rule. Test is a synonym for prove and would make the meaning more apparent if used.

a great american. he knew the corporations would take over congress & make the laws for the nations

If Patrick Henry were living in '06, would he change his immortal quote just one word to confront the issue of our generation with specificity - "Give me privacy or give me death?"

Waffler, Smith, Arkansas

Many obscure real issues with their use of words and name calling rather than with rational discussion. Thus some still set up the straw man of "socialist" or "communist" (not that these systems cannot be argued against rationally) rather than discussing real issues like our trade imbalance with "communist-capitalist" China. In the recent Intelligent Design versus Evolution Court Case it was shown that the Inteligent Design folks were simpy Creationists made over. They just changed their name. Doesn't the Bible warn us about Leopards changing their spots.

Indeed prophetic! What's next? Iran? Anything to take our mind off the real issues - we have been obscuring the real issues of corporate greed and political corruption with threats of terrorism, Gay marriage, and stem cell research.

    Ken, Allyn, WA

Going along to get along always leads to depravity. Robert, as for myself, I am more concerned about government greed since government has the power of force on its side.
