George Sutherland Quote

“Do the people of this land…desire to preserve those [liberties] protected by the First Amendment… If so, let them withstand all beginnings of encroachment. For the saddest epitaph which can be carved in memory of a vanquished liberty is that it was lost because its possessors failed to stretch for a saving hand while yet there was time.”

" Government is a disease masquerading as its own cure." A great quote by L. Neal Smith. Our liberties are being "Vanquished" and mostly by our own government, and we punish the malefactors by reelecting them over and over.

Jim k, if only we could elect our supreme court justices as we do here in Texas.

"The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time," Thomas Jefferson once wrote. "The hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them." It will take effort...

Is there yet time to preserve liberty in the land that is now occupied by a most despotic statist theocracy ? Is the epitaph for a vanquished liberty now being written ? Who has carved in their memory a time when there was no compelled compliance, license, victimless crimes, larceny with impunity, non-recognition of individual rights, monetary system with no-intrinsic value, fear of the police state and, freedom rang true ? OR, will the historical pattern again once cry: "all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed."
