The shortest explanation of the 10th Amendment....

Webster's quote: "Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters." -- Daniel Webster (1782-1852), US Senator

Without learning the history of this nation, this statement alone is a little scary...the masses we see growing appear to be moving away from freedom/liberty and appear to embrace a doctrine foreign to what Adams was speaking of. So Adams gets 5 stars for freedom. The federal government gets 2 for public education that destroyed any patriotism. The US appears to follow a media which lies, a government that is so divided leaders and members foment trouble, and an ignorant populace who believes their parents have destroyed the earth and dumped a huge responsibility upon them to 'save' it. They have also learned incorrectly, in the federal education system, that the US is greedy and should join the world society as they have no sense of US history, US Constitution and Bill of Rights, or who their ancestors were. Interesting times we live in. We can thank the UN and the federal education system for pulling the rug of liberty out from under USA society...

No decorum in the US any longer, descent has gone awry, as we have community organizers ginning up those who have learned nothing of who they are or where they came from because the FEDERAL education system sees no need to teach the history of this country or aiding her youth to feel any pride in this country. Shame on the Federal government for this purposeful subversion. Now the youth, and a few who could not embrace personal liberty are rudderless. Each is a Peter Pan, forever a child, who will join the loudest group that will take them in so they have a sense of belonging somewhere in a country that forgot to embrace its youth; teach it to have respect, pride, and self responsibility. We have a culture of people now who have never learned that you must not take other people's stuff, harm other people's property, or harm other people. Listen to the late Yuri Bezmenov (youtube) -he explains how and why this has been a purposeful agenda.

People are programmed to shout one another down. We see it on every 'news' channel each day. Civility is ignored in this country even by those with the floor.

Good quote; would like to know more about the author like age, occupation, source of quote...thank you

Benjamin A. Rogge (June 18, 1920 November 17, 1980) was an American economist, college administrator, and libertarian writer, speaker and foundation advisor.

This Paul Johnson? Paul Johnson (1928-) journalist, historian, speechwriter and author

As always, MONEY TALKS...or there would be no Stacknpack housing, no Common Core, no federal land and water grabs, no subsidies for some businesses, no Affordable Care Act, etc...no elected policy makers in office lacking values enuff to honor their Oath once in office.

I have suggested that the dems get a 'participation trophy' so they can wipe their tears and go home....

I would like to know: who is Chris Meissen? Is he alive? What does he do for a living if so? How old is he? What is the source of this great quote?

"The glory of science is to progress as new facts are discovered to be true, but such progress means that factual truth of that kind is actually a rather provisional human construct dependent upon a particular historical construct and always open to correction.
As new facts are discovered and fresh, scientific paradigms develop which is why the wise person doesn't think in the category of factual truth." Michael Ward, a fellow of Blackfriars Hall, University of Oxford, and professor of apologetics at Houston Baptist University speaking on CS Lewis at Hillsdale College in 2015

Did the Vietnamese do something to us? Did the Iraqis, did the Afghanis? It is all little confusing...

The quote is a good one. He forgets to mention that the most powerful indoctrination begins in kindergarten and continues thru college...as we see today: a generation of perfect little socialists now inhabiting this once free country. It is they who are the largest voting block and they who will be supporting the UNs Agenda 21 and they who will will happily toss out the US Constitution for free phones, free medical care, welfare, and food stamps. "The government oughta..." is their hue and cry for it is what they have learned in our federal education system.

Greg, Waffler is merely parroting the plans for the 21st century for the USA and the World found in the plan: Agenda 21: Earth Summit: The United Nations Programme of Action from Rio Mar 3, 2013 by United Nations (see Amazon). Then look up Christiana Figueres-capitalism and Christiana Figureres-communism, and Christiana Figueres -real reason for climate change. You will see where the US is headed at warp speed with the help of public 'servants' all over the USA from the little council-member up to the Executive of this country. There are no honorable people in the role of public 'servant' these days. They are incapable of critical thought or personal courageous action.

Did he say this PRIOR to his presidency? He must have...

"‎A general State education is a mere contrivance for moulding people to be exactly like one another; and as the mould in which it casts them is that which pleases the dominant power in the government, whether this be a monarch, an aristocracy, or a majority of the existing generation; in proportion as it is efficient and successful, it establishes a despotism over the mind, leading by a natural tendency to one over the body." ― John Stuart Mill (1806-1873) English philosopher, political economist, feminist, civil servant. Wiki: Mill's conception of liberty justified the freedom of the individual in opposition to unlimited state control. Source: On Liberty

Billy, One is no longer allowed to look under rocks while exploring and must always stay on the path.,,at least in the west. There are signs ever several feet in natural areas to remind kids not to explore anything. I agree with the quote, however, as I had the misfortune to read bits of a high school junior's history book just this last spring. It was scant about history and not very positive about this country.

"Education should aim at destroying free will so that after pupils are thus schooled they will be incapable throughout the rest of their lives of thinking or acting otherwise than as their school masters would have wished ... The social psychologist of the future will have a number of classes of school children on whom they will try different methods of producing an unshakable conviction that snow is black. When the technique has been perfected, every government that has been in charge of education for more than one generation will be able to control its subjects securely without the need of armies or policemen."
-- Johann Gottlieb Fichte (1762-1814) German philosopher, psychologist, considered the father of German nationalism Source: Prussian University in Berlin, 1810, quoted by The Impact of Science on Society by Bertrand Russell, 1952

It appears not to be the same education us older folks rec'd in the US today. The experiments seem to be going on and on...as describes some time ago:Education should aim at destroying free will so that after pupils are thus schooled they will be incapable throughout the rest of their lives of thinking or acting otherwise than as their school masters would have wished ... The social psychologist of the future will have a number of classes of school children on whom they will try different methods of producing an unshakable conviction that snow is black. 2/10/15 from www.Investors.com: UN Official Reveals Real Reason Behind Warming Scare Excerpt:"At a news conference last week in Brussels, Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of UNs Framework Convention on Climate Change, admitted that the goal of environmental activists is not to save the world from ecological calamity but to destroy capitalism."This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution," she said."

THINK who was the economic model the past 150 yrs? USA...so basically, it appears it is the USA the UN is going to destroy in their defined period of time: the 21st Century (hence the UNs Agenda 21). Well, it appears that industry has left the USA, doesn't it?
