An outside view on the Amerikan law comment: the average citizen fundamentally 'IS' half-witted and does not want to be trusted with his own devices or thoughts. The average citizen just wants to wallow in his socialist religion while being taken care of with every one else's stuff (labor, property, police state, etc.). American law is still "the law of nature and of nature's God". The occupying statist theocracy infesting this land does not recognize the representative republic limited by the Constitution (at law) but rather, as gods, implements its canons in a realm of demonic legal positivism.

I'm not sure that the average voter in this country is smart enough to be classified as half witted. Witness the last two elections.

And the education system is trying its damnedest to produce half-witted graduates to self-fulfill the theory that we are not to be trusted to our own devices.

The ambition of the State controlled indoctrination establishment is to "educate" the Sovereign Individual out of his or her morality grounded reason and native understanding.

As Thomas Jefferson expressed it:
