The 'group' is usually wrong -- or at least only concerned about their own self-interests. ("What have you done for me lately?")

These are the cards we have been dealt. Mailer would never make a politician. Again, again, and again how many times must we be reminded that this is a land of compromise, not of truth and absoutism. Those who want truth and absolutism should move to Cuba or North Korea, where there is always one answer to everything and it is always the right answer. I'll take the consensus society anytime. While there is truth in what Mailer says we should not go off the deep end with it and make a philosohy out of it therefore I only give it one star.
