For our Founding Fathers, a level of taxation of only a few cents on a dollar, siphoned off to a faraway and arrogant bureaucracy, was enough to ignite a revolution enough to grab the trusty musket off the wall. Today, in contrast, if we dare to startle the more panicky among us by buying a good rabbit gun, the government’s there at the cash register to check our papers and seize $46 on every $100.” ~ Ralph Reiland Professor of Economics, Robert Morris CollegeTaxed to Death Taxation Ratings and Comments 4 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 6/24/11 That 46$ goes straight to the pockets of the wrongly named Federal Reserve. And to add insult to injury they want to take the rabbit gun too. After all an unarmed society is a society of serfs, and that's their goal... 4 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 6/24/11 Taxation with represetation ain't been to hot either. 2Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 6/24/11 Only DC gets to complain about "taxation withOUT representation"... and the GOP/Tea party continues to insure that this continues. And an AK47 is NOT a "good rabbit gun"... and the only federal tax rate on individuals today that is as high as 46% would be the marginal taxed rate on the highest declared compensation of the self-employed, none of which would be so stupid as to actually pay it as opposed to finding one of the thousands of loopholes which allow it to be lowered (typically down below an effective 15% rate)... so, nothing but lies & exagerations to be read in this quote. 3 Reply Mike, Norwalk 6/24/11 The 'A' from Reston, what ? ? as to the 46%, did the quote mention any other tax outside the weapon. (oh I see, bring up an off topic subject, make slight of it, and then call the original statement a lie or exaggeration, hmmm) How do you know an AK47 is not a good rabbit gun, have you ever tried to shoot a rabbit with an AK47? An AK47 is a good deterrent to tyranny, foreign and domestic, if used properly and timely. At present, there is no representative republic in the topic area. A foreign statist theocracy has replaced the once sovereign representation. The current de facto despots allow for certain jailers to be selected from time to time but the entire body of codes, ordinances, regulations, rules, statutes, etc. are to enforce the will of the despot(s), not the once sovereign individuals. This quote is very accurate. 4 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 6/24/11 Let's see Reston...by the time we buy everything we need to simply eat and keep a roof over our heads...60 plus % of your income goes out to taxes. And you're right...an AK47 is not a good rabbit gun. And a rabbit gun is not a good AK47. One is for varmint hunting, one is for killing aggressors. Both are covered by the Second Amenment. If you've got a problem with that...it's "your problem". Hope that helped. :) 3 Reply Byron, Fort Collins, CO 6/24/11 Ralph Reiland is completely correct, as are Norwalk Mike and J Carlton. Reply Mike, Norwalk 6/24/11 J Carlton, said well. 3Reply Waffler, Smith 6/26/11 We are the heaviest armed people on earth and we ship the deadly stuff to the Mexican cartels who use them against our protective forces. So I really don't see what is this guys complaint. And all of these guns we now have are not lowering our taxes are they? If we have a lot of guns and also a lot of taxes as all of the above say we, then it stands to reason that guns do not lower taxes or protect us from the government, which is ourselves anyway. These are all arguments and talking points for fools and idiots. Lets get real with our talking points and arguments. Reply Roland, Bonner's Ferry 3/20/14 2 Reply jim k, Austin 4/5/16 Waffler, I must be a "fool and an idiot" because this quote is exactly right to me. 2 Reply Ronw13, Yachats OR 4/5/16 " At the start of this nation's unique experiment " Unique Experiment, a key phrase relating to what could be termed a Double Blind Study. Within the federalist papers the term Hybrid Republic is used. Seeing our founding fathers were well versed in mosaic law. Commandments pertaining to divine order of government and the lending of money to a brother and stranger. Psalm 10:17,18 " Lord, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou will prepare their Heart, thou will cause thine Ear to Hear: To judge the fatherless and the Oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more Oppress. Now more to point, Psalm 15:1,5 " Lord WHO shall abide in thy tabernacle ? who shall dwell in thy holy ( separate ) hill ? He that Putteth Not Out his Money to Usury, nor Takes reward against the innocent. He that does these things shall never be moved." Remembering our nation was termed the " Sanctuary of Liberty " A thorough study reveals the Oppressive nature of Tyranny, by the individual and governmental body of majority. The Cry of the poor and needy, the oppressed, whether good or bad reaches to the Ears of the unseen Creator, who by the way, likes to hide himself in a Dark place.
