Reply I pay taxes, Non Welfare receiving tax payer 11/13/10 Reply Midnightflyer, Lugoff 8/10/11 BS, why didn't you include the fact that he resigned because the they caught him taking bribes? This right wing slant of yours always shows. Going to quote Judas next? How about Satan? Love you but sometimes I just want to tell you, "Bite Me!' Guess Spiro didn't have to see slums with all that money he took falling out of his pockets. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 8/10/11 Hey Lugoff, lighten up. The trouble with you libs is you have no sense of humor. Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 8/10/11 Lugoff; I think this was put here as a jibe to the right and perhaps the Tea-baggers as well - anyone who thinks elitism and entitlement, right or left, will lead to disaster. As far as the left not having a sense of humour: Bill Mahr demonstrated this on Real Time a couple weeks ago. He had a Obama impersonator do his routine because he was off stage of a convention of some Democrat stripe. I thought it showed how balanced Mahr can be if he gives it an effort. Reply E Archer, NYC 8/10/11 I've seen the slums in NYC all my life -- they are no place to raise a child or live a life. You see them in Baltimore (Agnew was governor), DC, Chicago, Detroit, LA -- this is the best government welfare can do, after all, are we to provide everything to those that should be providing for themselves? So it has to be crappy enough to make people want something better. And since crime is what government is all about, these slums become a breeding ground for crime and desperation -- this is very good for government, as it merely becomes an excuse to further the expansion of the police state. It is certainly feasible to simply imprison all those in the slums -- it would be cleaner and brighter, but then it would put so many cops and lawyers out of business. ;-) Reply Waffler, Smith 8/10/11 Spiro was scum. I know people who say that there is nothing worthwhile to see between Chicago and Orlando. Certainly every slum is different with different houses, people and a whole wonderful world to explore. Just as interesting for real people to explore as is a community of suburban sprawl. Hitler would have loved this quote, it is a little like his Jews are vermin propaganda. I say love a slum today! Reply Mike, Norwalk 8/10/11 Its obvious each slum is different than all other slums. Not here shooting the messenger (-: too expensive to waste good copper and led ;-) the point is that reasons for a slum's existence are usually similar (government policies - fiscal enactments contrary to the laws of nature and of nature's God, political and religious intervention, etc. -, individual mental mind set, etc., etc.). Reply Waffler, Smith 8/10/11 If it were not for poor people and their slums there would not be any rich people. These people use soap, groceries, toilet paper that make all the stock holders of the companies that make and market this stuff rich. So have some respect for the poor and their slums. Reply GunnyCee, Durham 8/15/11 Spirew Agne and Richard Nixon were, thank God, the last of a breed of Republicans that gave the GOP a bad name. Nixon was really a RINO anyway. He tried to enlarge the size of the federal government to even a higher extent that Obama is doing. He actually imposed gas prices by telling gas station owners what price they could charge regarlesss of how much they had to pay for their supply. That failed miserably. He was however, able to impose a 55 mile speed limit over the entire country. That was as liberal as it gets. Spirew was a crook who had no respect for the American peole. Another trait of the liberals. So, in my opinion, both of them were liberal jerks who ran on the GOP ticket because the GOP was week and infiltrated with Marxist/communists. Today, it's entirely different. Today, you see the GOP as the people's party who are sick and tired of government as usual --- tax, tax, tax --- spend, spend, spend. IF Dorthy were to wake up today and meet men with no brains, no courage, and no hearts, she wouldn't be in OZ, she'd be in DC. Reply John, Cincinnati 3/13/12 Truth hurts.
