Will Rogers Quote

“One of these days they are going to remove so much of the 'hooey' and the thousands of things the schools have become clogged up with, and we will find that we can educate our broods for about one-tenth of the price and learn 'em something that they might accidentally use after they escape.”

It appears to me that Will Rogers was an optomist from this quote.Ahh....but a grain of Truth is a treasure to behold. No matter how small.Thank you Will.

All the "hooey" indoctrinates kids to believe what the government tells them, and a hundred times worse than Will Rogers could have imagined.

Ken, Allyn, WA

If only the goal of the education system was to educate children, then Will might be right. That 'hooey' will never be removed because the goal is to indoctrinate children at any price.

David L. Rosenthal

Under the current circumstances, thank God for the finite quality of earthly human life.

Good old fashion thinking as our parents did with only 8th grade education still means more and has more smarts than all the so called educated people in this world. Look at the president, the dumbest damn person on the planet. If he didn't have money, no one would hang around him.

Mike, Norwalk

The education of my family was far cheaper, better and much broader than if they had attended the occupying statist theocracy's seminaries. By way of example: starting college at age 14, getting multiple degrees, and doing so without a loan, grant or money from me once turning 16.

Mary Paula Grimes, Flint, MI

Best teachers I had were my Mother & Father. They taught because they wanted me to be successful, plus they loved me. . . . .

E Archer, NYC

That's great to hear, Mike, my experience homeschooling our children also prepared them for higher education rapidly. My experience in college was essentially that I pay to have someone make me read a book, write something about it, be tested on it, graded, and then approved to repeat the process with another set of books. Like having to pay a bill rather than save. And if a person read all the books on their own -- even more -- they could be done in a matter of months instead of years. Some fields of study require expensive equipment, but the exorbatantly high cost of US college tuition seems to far outweigh the use of such facilities. I foresee in the very near future online education taking over with online certifications for confirmed skill sets. Anyone with the drive to learn will find all the libraries in the world right on the internet. The Information Age has put the power of all the ages into the hands of the common man. We'll see how long this lasts! ;-)

And since his day, we've made headway ???
