And the man who goes among you to trade upon your nationality is no worthy son to live under the Stars and Stripes.”Woodrow Wilson ~ Woodrow Wilson (1856-1924) 28th US President America , Patriotism , Prejudice , President , Wisdom Ratings and Comments Reply E Archer, NYC 11/22/07 Don't let us become divided over such trivialities. Americans should represent freedom and responsibility, not special favors for various classes of people (always at the expense of another class). Reply Mike, Norwalk 8/17/11 Archer, phrased well. Here, not shooting the racist Progressive messenger that was possibly the greatest traitor to a once constitutionally limiting representative republic, the quote on its face has somewhat discernible merit. The 2 particular national groups or parties that dominate USA (Union of Socialist's Amerika - communism / progressivism / fascism) politics, trading upon a nationality of false dichotomies, propagates sons and daughters unworthy of freedom and liberty's symbolic stars and stripes. Reply Carol, Georgia 8/17/11 Wilson said that and at the same time segregated the military. Sure seems to me as if he was trying to separate the American people. If one segment of society is segregated, it's all segregated. The military was a physical separation, the others are mentally and emotionally separated, pitting one group against the other. Sometimes it's done by the government, sometimes by people themselves. If everyone gave up their hyphenated labels and realized we are all Americans (if here legally) our country would be a lot safer. It might be a good idea to figure out who are not "worthy sons," such as those who would drive a wedge into society in favor of one group over another. There are several who come to mind. Reply bgona, Morgan city 8/18/11 Reply Larry Thrasher, Akron, Ohio 9/14/11 A fair ideal, not so easy to put in practice these days where so many in America have become self hating hypocrites who refuse to practice the very ideals they espouse.
