Kinda sucks

Government power is limited by the Constitution. Congress oversteps their authority with most laws they create.

I think it's interesting that military mucka- mucks and rich, powerful people always curse government. That's because they want no restraints such as democracy and protection for working people that government is supposed to provide in this country. Sadly, those powerful people now have control of the government and see where it has led---straight to fascism.

Government was never supposed to provide protection for the people in this country.

it's the supreme court that has "unlimited power!"

Its sad but, it just works out that way.

Dick, whether "military mucka mucks, whatever that means, or "rich and powerful people always curse government", has nothing to do with the validity of the quote. This quote is exactly on target.

"Military mucka mucks and the rich, powerful people" curse the government because they have something to lose. Thieves and beggars love government because government is a convenient tool used to steal from the "mucka mucks" and "rich and powerful." Given the opportunity government will steal the object and practice of liberty not just from the rich and powerful, but from everyone.

And the limitation of the Power of Generals. Say what!

Mr. Trice from Fort Worth nailed it. What many don't know is that MacArthur and disappointingly, Dwight Eisenhower were called upon, and did, to route the bonus vets (WW1)who had been promised by the "gummint" a bonus for signing up to fight in WW1. Over and over they were denied until they gathered together and went to DC where they camped on the ground that's now the reflection pond and petitioned the gummint daily for the money they were promised. They didn't threaten, fight or cause trouble, they just wanted what had been promised them. MacArthur and Eisenhower were assigned the task of running the veterans out, which they did. Destroying their tents and belongings, causing injuries to these men who'd been lied to and literally stolen from. But then the native Americans who had lived here for generations, before our ancestors arrived, were promised all kinds of pie in the sky, were ultimately slaughtered, imprisoned and forced into the most hostile lands the gummint could force them into...until of course, oil and uranium were discovered but that's another story.
P.S. our grandpa's never got their bonuses.
