The "Bland" get that way in our union controlled public schools. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 1/1/13 re: Friedrich August von Hayek quote "No one in this world, so far as I know, has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby. H.L. Mencken. Another Mencken quote which is always appropriate is this, "All government, in it's essence , is organized exploitation, and in virtually all of it's existing forms it is the implacable enemy of all industrious and well-disposed man." Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 1/1/13 re: Carrie Chapman Catt quote There are just laws, unjust laws, and too many laws. Among the worst laws of all is Asset Forfeiture, passed by our congress, which allows cops to steal your property without your having committed a crime. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 1/1/13 re: Alma Daniel quote I'll go with E Archer on this one. And perhaps this quote means that freedom is up to the individual , not from the government. 3 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/31/12 re: Bergan Evans quote Blake, what the heck are you talking about and do you live under a rock. Evolution is attacked all the time by fundamentalists everywhere. How about a little skepticism on creationism? A quote from the Buddha goes like this: "Believe nothing, no matter where you read it or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense". People should be skeptical of and examine everything instead of just taking it on faith. This goes for politics, religion and the Bible. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/28/12 re: F. Scott Fitzgerald quote A good example of this is religion. People, especially fundamentalists tend to believe what they were taught as children by their parents and their church. They don't think or question very much but they do have faith and hope and do a lot of believing. Politics is another example. I vote democrat(or republican) because my dad voted that way. Recent elections are proof that a lot of voters aren't big on "thinking". Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/28/12 re: Frederick Douglass quote I'm with John Douglas on this one. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/27/12 re: Antoine De Saint-Exupery quote It's okay to think anything you want but you better keep it to yourself. The politically correct thought police are watching and lisitening. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/27/12 re: Mark Van Doren quote Maybe it's time to examine Obama's ideas before it's too late. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/26/12 re: Ludwig von Mises quote A process always messed up by government interference. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/26/12 re: French Saying quote Perhaps the world would run by itself if government would get out of the way. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/21/12 re: Richard Henry Lee quote Reston and Dick, just relax and put your heads back in the sand. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/21/12 re: Donald S. McAlvaney quote That bunch of commies running Washington won't rest until guns are banned. And can't you just see all the criminals marching straight in to turn in their guns ? Me neither. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/21/12 re: Lt. Lowell Duckett quote Correct, but it doesn't faze the Brady bunch. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/20/12 re: The Liberty Pole quote This pretty well sums it up. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/20/12 re: Nelson Lund quote The police mainly make reports of a robbery or murder after it has happened. They will try to find the culprit but you will still be robbed or dead. It's up to each citizen to protect his person and property, not the police. 2 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/19/12 re: New Hampshire Constitution quote "Live free or die and vote early and vote often". 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/17/12 re: Joel Miller quote Laws do not contol the lawless and neither do gun control laws. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/17/12 re: H. Sterling Burnett quote It's interesting that the States with the most murders are also the States with the strictess gun control laws. 4 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/13/12 re: Herman Dismore quote Another obvious fact. 2 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/13/12 re: Barbara Walters quote Seems like I already knew this. 4 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/13/12 re: Walter Cronkite quote No kidding, why I'm shocked at this news. 6 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/12/12 re: Bertrand Russell quote It's like boiling a frog. Throw him in hot water and he'll jump out but put him in cold water and turn up the heat slowly and he'll never know what hit him. At least they don't control the internet, yet. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/12/12 re: Albert Speer quote Waffler, The "non-thinking crowd" came out in droves last November 6th. Obama is scary but the fact that we have enough people willing to elect him twice is really scary. It was fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice, shame on me again. 4 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/11/12 re: John Swinton quote Once long ago, the motto of the New York Times was "All The News That's Fit To Print".
