Police protection is a myth. To some small extent polce do protect but mostly they make a report after you've been robbed, mugged,or murdered. It's up to the citizen to protect himself and his family. When push comes to shove, the police will do what the Feds tell them to do, especially with police departments accepting government money and becoming more and more federalized.

Governments always have a war going or at least keep the people scared that one is coming soon. We have wars all over the place, the war on drugs, cancer, obesity, you name it. Gotta keep that word WAR on every bodies mind all the time.It's what governments do.

Nowadays Congress doesn't declare war, the Presidents just send troops and we call them by other names, like "police actions". The "war" in Korea was one example. It was very like a war to the soldiers whofought,died, or were maimed for life.
