It's not the US Government that is scaring us and telling us we are being attacked. It's the Republican party, the opposition, that is doing that. They are convincing their followers that US Government is attacking THEM. They are telling the people that a) our government and President is against the people and b) the Democrats are going against the Constitution with regards to health care, gun control, etc... and are therefore.... un-patriotic and un-American. When the Republican base believes that, they are following their party leaders whether or not they are being told the truth or not. Mission accomplished.
