Reply Editor, Liberty Quotes 11/7/16 re: Thomas Jefferson quote Abby, the source has been updated. Cheers. Reply Editor, Liberty Quotes 10/15/16 re: Harry S. Truman quote Don, we have also been unable to find the source of this quote. We have tagged it 'Attributed' as it is popularly attributed to Truman. 1 Reply Editor, Liberty Quotes 7/26/16 re: Adolf Hitler quote Thank you, Steve. The quote is popularly attributed to Hitler, but most likely a paraphrase. Since Hitler spoke German, searching for the source of this quote would require the actual German. The quote is found in A. E. Samaan's 'From a Race of Masters to a Master Race.' We have put that quote here and tagged the source of this quote accordingly. Thanks again! 5 Reply Editor, Liberty Quotes 7/20/16 re: Adolf Hitler quote Thanks to those who 'do' think and have pointed out the lack of source of this quote. We're going to tag it as 'questionable' with a source that is 'attributed' until we can find a source. Cheers. Reply Editor, Liberty Quotes 7/13/16 re: Sir Roger L'Estrange quote Thanks, Cal. Yes, this is from Roger L'Estrange's 'Fables of Aesop.' The source has been updated. Here's a link to the original:Google Books - Fables of Aesop by Roger L'Estrange Reply Editor, Liberty Quotes 7/5/16 re: Alan Bullock quote Thanks, John. It appears many authors are quoting Leonard Shapiro in their books. The quote has been posted now here. Thank you! Reply Editor, Liberty Quotes 6/28/16 re: John D. Rockefeller, Sr. quote Thank you, Josh, for the citation. We will check into it. Thank you, Reply Editor, Liberty Quotes 5/23/16 re: Ludwig von Mises quote Mike, the last post received from you was the 'rolling on the floor laughing' reply to Robert on the Frederic Bastiat quote page: http://quotes.liberty-tree.ca/quote_blog/Frederic.Bastiat.Quote.95A6 Reply Editor, Liberty Quotes 5/17/16 re: Jeremy Bentham quote Robert, yes, the post from RBESRQ was posted by you in 2010, no one has "pinched it." I hope to one day compile a few pages of 'the best of' comments posted over the years - yours would certainly be among the top. Thanks not just for your words, but your actions as the 'noble sovereign' that you are. Cheers! Reply Editor, Liberty Quotes 3/17/16 re: George Washington quote The quote is marked as a 'False George Washington quote'. The actual quote is from the Treaty of Tripoli in 1796 which was written during Washington's presidency, but John Adams signed it. It is inaccurately attributed to Washington himself. Reply Editor, Liberty Quotes 1/19/16 re: James Madison quote Thanks, James. The quote has been marked as False. The source of the quote appears to be from Jeffrey Snyder in an essay 'A Nation of Cowards,' (Fall 1993)We have added the Snyder quote here:http://quotes.liberty-tree.ca/quote_blog/Jeffrey.Snyder.Quote.6BF8 Reply Editor, Liberty Quotes 12/29/15 re: Daniel Webster quote The source has been updated -- thank you, anonymous, cocord and John, People's Republic of Illinois. Reply Editor, Liberty Quotes 12/9/15 re: Janet Reno quote Thanks, Louis, we'll check into the source. Cheers. 1 Reply Editor, Liberty Quotes 11/23/15 re: Bill Clinton quote Sorry, we did not mean to send this one out again. We can't find the MTV source from which it is attributed. However, in light of recent attempts by Hillary Clinton to take down embarrassing videos of/about her, it may not be entirely out of the question that Bill Clinton's remarks may have been cleaned up by MTV. 2 Reply Editor, Liberty Quotes 9/8/15 re: Patrick Henry quote E Archer, you are not that far off - I discovered recently that Amazon has already begun offering Amazon credits for used smart phones, which is essentially creating money for a marketplace. You are right, it is happening. I can 'sell' my iPhone to Amazon (which they then resell) and buy something else with the Amazon credits. I am not sure what else Amazon will 'trade-in' but as long as Amazon knows the demand and supply, it can make fairly safe bets on accepting trade-ins. Having said that, you may soon start seeing some Amazon ads on this site to trade-in products. Cheers! 1 Reply Editor, Liberty Quotes 9/2/15 re: James Madison quote Thank you, Lori. Thanks to our readers, like you, we can keep these quotes accurate. We will make a note in the attribution and will add the full quote from Olive Cushing Dwinell to a separate quote page. Frankly, The Story of Our Money has a lot of good stuff in there, so we will likely add a few more Banking quotes in the process. Cheers! 2 Reply Editor, Liberty Quotes 8/30/15 re: Adolf Hitler quote Thank you, Jos, for your research. We will look into the proper source. Cheers. Reply Editor, Liberty Quotes 7/3/15 re: John Locke quote Great discussion, guys. We are in the process of developing a 'dialogue' section in which people can discuss subjects like statism vs individualism. In the mean time feel free to continue. Thanks for keeping the dialogue respectful even when expressing your disagreement with others. Readers of this blog enjoy intelligent debate (as do I). Cheers. 1 Reply Editor, Liberty Quotes 5/5/15 re: Frederick Douglass quote Fred, the quote has been confirmed and the source added. The word 'deprecate' is a typo and has been replicated across the internet; here's a scan of the printed page from the Library of Congress -- you may have to zoom in to see the 'i': http://www.loc.gov/resource/mfd.21039/?sp=22 'To depreciate' in this context means 'to not appreciate' or to dislike. 1 Reply Editor, Liberty Quotes 4/27/15 re: Edmund Burke quote Hey, folks, today we launched a new feature - now you can rate the comments!
