Hitler knew that Europe did not want to be thrown into another war. He built up his military and the "peace lovers" stood idly by afraid of "inciting" the Fuhrer. When Chamberlain and Daladier met with Hitler, they behaved in exactly the way Hitler knew they would . They gave in to all of his demands. Afterward, Hitler told his generals "I have seen the enemy and they are worms. There are two kinds of people in the world. Aggressors and non aggressors. The aggressors take advantage of the fact that the non-aggressors do not want violence and thus always threaten violence when they do not get their way. All of the appeasement of Hitler did not stop him from starting WWII on Sept. 1, 1939. We are seeing the same situation in our dealings with muslims nowadays. Appeasement, caving in, not fighting back all sound really nice but eventually, you have to fight.
