I'm sure. I bet he had his fair quota of slaves, though. Somehow, the message of the Buddha shows us that freedom lies within and in all of us. Perhaps Cicero was referring to that?

That there is "I" and all of the tags might be applied to that "I". It's good to think that we are all free of prejudice. But when it comes down to it, anybody who's different to the "I" is competition. I am probably all of those tags at one time or another. It depends on the scenario posed. I found most of Mr. Heinlein's writing to be fiction and consequently after "Stranger in a strange land", became so popular his writing showed it to be just that. ..... "I could grok, that" ;-]

Uh huh ....... "opinions" is probably the word? If so? Than Lao Tze tells us, the easiest thing to give is ......... an opinion. Yet, I find that it is difficult to live with myself without a few. ;-]

That all teachers today, are responsible to society. Through the governing bodies. Because the "state" is governed by greedy people, today; means that this tool of public education is diluted. The taxes that should be directed toward the children, are subverted. That the people in power wish to remain there. So they spare no expense in retaining their power, to the detriment of the kids. That the quote is more appropriate to the time it was said.

That right or left does not exist in American/Canadian politics. Not in the terms implicit in most reference. It is confusing when Liberals are not liberal, Conservatives do not conserve, Republicans do not give a damn around the republic and seek to anoint themselves kings. That Democrats means that, they support mob rule where 51% takes away the rights of the other 49%. "Left or Right". They both seek a power that they will do anything, say anything to hold onto that power.

That this speaks to the notion of taxation, more than socialism. That Mr. Jefferson is consistent in his approach to his cause. I would hope that Mr. Jefferson would have too, a "level playing field"? Which does not seem to be for so many of us, today. It would be a more level field if the wealthy paid a more proportionate share of taxes; compared to the poor people working three jobs.

That Lord Acton also said this,"I cannot accept your canon that we are to judge Pope and King unlike other men with a favourable presumption that they did no wrong. If there is any presumption, it is the other way, against the holders of power, increasing as the power increases. Historic responsibility has to make up for the want of legal responsibility. Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men, even when they exercise influence and not authority: still more when you superadd the tendency or certainty of corruption by full authority. There is no worse heresy than the fact that the office sanctifies the holder of it. "[3]That had this had been listened to, the crimes perpetrated by priests in our communities would not have been "sanctified"?

As the Bard might have penned? "Aye, there's the rub".

That Professor Einstein was a genius, in both science and manners.

That it is true. With humans we just layer new stuff over old, without consideration of what the new brings. e.g. that locomotives and cars are built on a wheel base width of a roman cart track. Nope let's face it. Humans are just another species of monkey and by extension, creatures of habit.
