Yet I am required to register and purchase a permit to keep and bear a handgun. This corruption, the infringment on the rights of law abiding citizens, will never control the criminal 2%. But it clearly strips us of our ability to defend ourselves when the police are not present. 2 Reply Joel, Rochester, MI 6/13/05 re: Thomas Jefferson quote ...and Bill Clinton is the mean, pitiful, contemptible man, habitually telling lies. 4 Reply Joel, Rochester, MI 5/31/05 re: Rear Admiral Chester Ward quote We must vote to stop our representatives from giving the U.N. our sovereignty, and prevent them from turning us into a Socialist country, even though our own elected officials call us unpatriotic. 7 Reply Joel, Rochester, MI 5/16/05 re: Benjamin Franklin quote I believe we are currently losing our Republic, partly because our legislators have been allowed to write unconstitutional laws ... slowly rotting our freedoms. Reply Joel, Rochester, MI 5/16/05 re: James Madison quote I'm glad we are a Republic! 1 Reply Joel, Rochester, MI 5/13/05 re: Lysander Spooner quote ... but even MORE a slave since we elect the same masters to each new term. Reply Joel, Rochester, MI 5/13/05 re: Edmund Burke quote This has congress written all over it. 1 Reply Joel, Rochester, MI 5/13/05 re: Georges Ripert quote Can our tyrannous government be any more socialist? Socialist is exactly what "established by the general will in the common interest" means! Reply Joel, Rochester, MI 5/12/05 re: Sir Winston Churchill quote I concur. I believe I'm above average ... but, doesn't everyone believe they are too? 1 Reply Joel, Rochester, MI 5/12/05 re: Charley Reese quote Passing a test SOUNDS reasonable. And our representatives should have to pass a citizenship test before they run for office! BUT ... let's use a little "inteligent, knowledgeable and reasoned" thought for a moment. Requiring a test be passed before voting is anti-American and unconstitutional. So, Charley's quote is almost worthless. Reply Joel, Rochester, MI 5/11/05 re: Alexander Woollcott quote Congress has certainly "worked it" and ignores the law, specifically the Constitution! What else explains infringements such as the Brady Bill or the Assault Weapons Ban? 2 Reply Joel, Rochester, MI 5/10/05 re: Alexis de Tocqueville quote Our Republic became a democracy, and has deteriorated to a congressional tyrany. Term limits would be a giant step toward our return to a Republic. 4 Reply Joel, Rochester, MI 5/9/05 re: Bill Clinton quote Yes, Bill ... you can! Reply Joel, Rochester, MI 5/9/05 re: Bill Clinton quote People hate the career politicians who send our troops to die in a foreign land...countries we have no right to attack. 4 Reply Joel, Rochester, MI 5/9/05 re: Bill Clinton quote Bill Clinton wouldn't tell the truth if it were right in front of him. How could the people have elected the liar twice??? 2 Reply Joel, Rochester, MI 5/9/05 re: Bill Clinton quote Preserving the rights of ordinary Americans is exactly what our government is supposed to do. Instead then continue trampling our rights. For example, you can't get more unpatriotic than The Patriot Act! Reply Joel, Rochester, MI 5/6/05 re: Alanna Mitchell quote The copycat killer is responsible for his or her actions, NOT society. Collectivism has perverted the concept of individual responsibility, blaming others for individual wrongdoing. Collectivism reasons that everyone must strive for equality. But that is an inductive fallacy, because not everyone is equal. Reply Joel, Rochester, MI 5/2/05 re: Bill Clinton quote This demonstrates Clinton's disdain for the American people. Government's job is to preserve our rights, unlike the unpatriotic Patriot Act, which only removes our rights. 2 Reply Joel, Rochester, MI 4/26/05 re: Hazel Henderson quote One way our government defeats economics is by legislating prices. Supply and demand, if left alone, will find its own balance. I don’t understand why our government is compelled to fix things that aren’t broken. Leave us alone! Reply Joel, Rochester, MI 4/26/05 re: H. L. Mencken quote We are a Republic. It is irritating when someone speaks of the U.S. as a democracy. The Pledge of Allegiance says “... and to the Republic for which it stands ...”. Also, it’s “The Battle Hymn of the Republic”, not “... of the Democracy”! Reply Joel, Rochester, MI 4/22/05 re: James Reston quote As did the Titanic, our government too will sink. Its stern will rise in the air, as flooded departments drown its citizens in taxes. It will necessarily split under its own weight, and slide into the dark abyss of the coming revolution. Congress will hold firm the railings, criticizing waves of taxes as mandatory social obligations, requiring but modest bailing to re-float. Only then will the People recognize their Freedoms, long since removed from the ship, as the lifeboats that may have saved them. Reply Joel, Rochester, MI 4/22/05 re: Douglas Casey quote Tsunami Relief is an excellent example ... hundreds of millions of dollars taken from US taxpayers and sent as foreign aid. If our representatives decide to give money, it should come from their own pockets, not from ours. 2 Reply Joel, Rochester, MI 4/18/05 re: Dave Barry quote Funny, but Dave doesn't understand. He presumes, as does the IRS, that every US citizen is a taxpayer. I continue asking the IRS (for 8+ years) what makes me liable for any taxes and what is their authority to collect. The [kinder and gentler] IRS simply ignores my questions, and threatens to seize my home and bank accounts without due process. Funny...huh? Next 25 SaveOk2 Share on Facebook Tweet Email Print
