About truth, I want to take this opportunity to mention that a claim that Hitlary had given China eminent domain as security for the debt US owes them. It is entirely false. I did a Scopes on it and Fact Check, and seems a fellow named Hal something or other, who has plastered other false alarms on radio and internet, started this rumor several months ago. I just wanted to let you folks know that was something that I initially passed on to others and now feel very embarrased about doing that. I actually picked it up from Mike in Norwalk. Carlton questioned it but I saw no response. Anyone who was worried about that, forget it, and sleep well.

Many people at this time believe that they can bring about change by working to change government and to not use violent means such as overthrowing the government. What you would get using violence could be much worse. But whether it is possible to make change without force is also doubtful since anyone who disagrees with the status quo is placed on a list, relegated to the outskirts of the city to have a peaceful protest, and the powerful and greedy do not use fair rules. They have no rules. Seems we are now stuck with what is there, but that is a bleak thought.

To me, the key word here is "individual". He does not state "corporate", which perhaps wasn't a concern at the time. We now have corporate control of all those areas, including agriculture while they play genetic manufacturing with our food supply. Most everything is under the control of (what? four main mega-corporations) a very few. That has removed competition and true choice away from the consumers. Manufacturing is for the most part gone from this country because corporations have moved where they get cheaper labor, and fewer controls. (No cost for polluting other countries in making profits.) If we could re-establish real manufacturing in our United States to provide jobs it will be done by individuals or small groups of individuals. Do not depend on corporations and manufacturers overall to give back the job base. We learned to depend on corporations to provide jobs, not individuals and the quote to me references. We didn't listen, but let corporations get control.

This quote seems to blame the deterioration of the constitution on the "mob", when in fact the our last President has done the most to dismantle our laws and the Constitution. Is it possible that Jefferson was making a warning that some mixes of huge populations under certain circumstances can lead to civil unrest, as in Watts, Harlem and Detroit in the 60"s? Not intending to discount what the protests did for minority rights. Perhaps Jefferson is merely warning against the power of "mobs" to the constitution under certain circumstances. Imagine the class system that is indigenous in all cities, would seem like a mob to one of "upper class" standing, who could not relate to the lack of refinement by the underclass. "The manners and spirit of the people" I think references more what the composition of the population of the city, whether homogeneous in beliefs and character, whether contributing or sustaining those values. Public education is a tool to attempt to teach value sharing but is an obvious failure for numerous reasons, perhaps for the better??

Waffler, Please read this: http://centre.telemanage.ca/links.nsf/key/Federal_Reserve_Quiz This was the link given by the web master who sends us the quotes, and was included with the quote in the email. Since I am not an economist nor an intellectual, I may be easily misled. But after reading this source I believe it says the Fed does print money and that the profits of money loaned by the Federal Reserve goes to the the member banks of the Fed Reserve. Yes, I don't disagree that SS and HTF has nothing to do with the FR. I will Google the Bureau of Public Debt and see what I learn.

Sorry, but forgot the quote marks. Waffler, when the government lacks money to pay for Social Security, the highway trust fund (not aware of that by likely a so-called savings from taxes on fuel), etc., don't they just borrow the money from the Fed who prints more "notes" which they charge interest to the government (i.e. people), etc. We are being played. This is a ponzy scheme.

The Banking Act of 1933 legislated that all earnings of the Federal Reserve Banks go to the banks themselves. The assets of the Federal Reserve Banks increased from $143 million dollars in 1913 to $45 billion dollars in 1949, which enriched all of the shareholders of the banks. There is no evidence that the law or the method of accounting of earnings has changed since 1949. Waffler, this is a quote taken from the Federal Reserve Quiz by EU... that was a link below the quote. The interest goes to the shareholders of the banks, and I do not own shares in any bank. Another example of the rich getting richer as the poor contribute toward paying off interest on paper created by the Federal Reserve. That is illegal money!!

Mike, it is unbelievable, but I will have to. How can she give them eminent domain authority in this country? What lawful authority does she have to do that? Seems that should go before Congress, and isn't their something in the constitution that should kick her off her job, instead of kicking me off my land!! How very frightening. You are correct, thanks for pointing out my error. I did intend to say the US should claim bankruptcy but did not know my property was put up for collateral of the money they borrowed from China. I have read that China has quite a Navy now, and their weapons are amassing. No wonder they are so desperate to find another planet that will support life.

After second reading, needed to put a more specific response to the quote and the article provided with the quote. It seems our national debt is predicated upon the interest that the Federal Reserve demands is due on the money lent the government. When in fact it is only paper with nothing behind it the Fed is criminal is demanding interest. It is mafia demands with threat of collapse of dollar if it is not paid. We should refuse to pay their ridiculous interest and are stupid if we will. Kuchinich has presented a bill to require an audit of the Federal Reserve. I have written my representative who recently sent his letter to constituents calling the Federal Reserve a government agency. I wonder if he even knows the difference, or is purposefully misleading his constituents. Carlton, what is this new morality now where it does not make a difference where or how someone makes their money. It makes a big difference to me. Perhaps you really mean "worked" their way to the top but I cannot think of many professions where one can work themselves to the top without someone else' money being stolen, in one manner or another. Attorneys are good at that, but I don't like to target anyone since one of the responders could be an attorney. Being innovative and making a huge contribution to progress or to benefit the environment, like a non-polluting fuel replacement, should be highly rewarded. But look at Bill Gates, who has really manipulated the system and used his advantage to make money and prevent a better product for the public. I have heard Apple computer has a much better operating system that is easier to use, and less problematic, less holes, etc. But Microsoft windows has tried to monopolize the market and gotten away with it for the most part. How much money do people need. Actually Gates tries to affect public policy with his wealth such as when he entertained heads of corporations and heads of states at his own home in Seattle area.(I think it is called Clyde Hill.) Why else did he invite this diverse but powerful group to his home to present his latest products. CEO's making several millions a year who do little that someone else with a similar degree and experience could do. They get rewarded for failure, like GM CEO. Where do those outrageous payrolls come from? It is as they are mafia. It is shameless. I

I agree with anonymous from Reston. If you are not wealthy then you are a dirty liberal. Stop playing the divide and conquer. Conservatives are "always" so haughty and critical of those without. Trying to call A from Reston a communist without saying the word was pretty cheap. I say make the dirty rich pay the deficit. Bill Gates and all the rest of the "can't ever get enough" of anything crowd should pay. Maybe we can get the liberal congress to go along with it. Send in our lobbyists.

All that needs to be done is for the Feds to declare Bankruptcy and we can start over. Too bad for all the countries holding the notes. We have the weapons, they have the notes. Now that is true power.

Finally the truth!!. Oh Israel, why don't you get off our welfare rolls.

No one has commented on the last four words of the quote, "in a peaceful manner". Seems it limits the use of guns and deprives a person from protecting his country from enemies, foreign or domestic in event of actual military actions. Guess that means you keep your gun in your holster just for looks. Is it necessary to use this forum for unrelated personal political outbursts. Negative references to "liberal", "Obama, Pelosi, Reed," and whomever "rest of usual suspects" appears to attempt to limit readers to your own political persuasion. It has nothing to do with discussion of the quotes. Not everyone wants to read your "radical conservative views". Hopefully the moderator can address this better than I.

Where does this quote say anything that relates to health care? It does not limit the powers of the Federal Government. Seems you would be more concerned about Federal taxes, which is not real law as it was not ratified by the states. Instead two quotes referencing Obama. Where does the constitution give Federal power to invade a country without provocation and send citizens from states to fight in a foreign war? Instead, Obama bashing. So sad. One other thing about money. Does the constitution actually say States cannot coin money, or that the Federal Government CAN coin money. So many diversions from the Constitution in laws passed that we now need a con-con to throw out all laws that do not pass the Constitutionality test.

Intent is the big word in trials now. Not whether someone committed a crime but whether they intended to do an act that was criminal. This includes free speech prosecutions. If someone intended to hurt someone's feelings with their words then that is a crime because there was intent. Lots of ways of twisting the law to get a hold on someone that might be a threat to the establishment. Been there. Kangaroo court abounds.

Seems to understand what Thomas is trying to say, one might need to know what the case was about. Was a law actually broken? The tone of the message gives me the feeling that he does not approve of free speech when he speaks of throttling them beforehand, as if he might prefer to do so. Thomas doesn't belong on the Court. Too bad Anita Hill's testimony didn't eliminate him. He prefers to act inappropriately, and seems he did use his free speech to say some rather crude words to her.

Ever listen to "Democracy Now" televised hour news program Mon through Fri in the morning at 9am where I live (mountain time). . It is non commercial and has stories that are not aired on CBS, NBS, CNN or FOX. I get it on Comcast on the Public Access channel. There is a web site with the same name, usual www, and .org. It is supported by Link TV. Surprised at the good documentaries that sometimes follow that program, or are on later in the day the same channel. More discussion about news items, no flipping every 30 seconds from issue to issue. Moderator Amy Goodman, serious minded woman who is not a talking head. Great segment today on national health insurance with interview with the former spokesperson for insurance companies who has since become a whistleblower. He sure had a lot to say that I agree with. One news program that does not try to indoctrinate or dumb down.
