I thought Democrats were supposed to be the ones standing up for "ordinary" Americans. Yeah right, what a joke. If you believe that, I've got some prime wetlands I want to sell you.

Yeah, like his administration did at Ruby Ridge, and Waco, and with Elian Gonzales.

Great quote! I never thought about that, but it rings true.

If only this were true. It seems nobody in government believes we REALLY have a right to privacy.

This infuriates me, but unfortunately, it is a fact of life. Ron Paul for President!! http://mikesworldblog.blogspot.com/

The implications of this quote are totalitarian and evil. Ron Paul for President!! http://mikesworldblog.blogspot.com/

The people who want a Big Brother are those too scared or lazy to take responsibility for their own lives. Too bad we can't divide the country into two zones ... the Big Brother zone and the Free and Independant zone. Oh ... they tried that already about 145 years ago, and Big Brother won.

This quote is the reason our political system was set up as a representative republic instead of a democracy.

It depends on what they mean by "communication".

Somebody needs to tell that to Congress.

Reston, he got elected because the alternative was even more scary and incomprehensible. As long as we keep letting the powers that be keep presenting us with "dumb and dumber" to vote for, we will keep getting elected officials like this.

Good point E Archer. Sort of like the government saying the citizens aren't allowed to have the same arms as the military or the police (I don't mean tanks, fighter jets, or nuclear weopons but military type small arms). What makes the military and the police better than the citizenry? They are human. Are they somehow more virtuous than us? Is it because of training? I train as much as many police and soldiers with my firearms? Are they more responsible? What makes them more trustworthy than me? The founders believed the people should have the same weapons as the military in case they would have to defend themselves from their own government. I agree.

The world has always been a dangerous place. Life is dangerous and ALWAYS leads to death. Stealing our liberties will not make it a safer place. In the end, the loss of liberties makes the world MORE dangerous just from different people.

Wouldn't it be cool if we could do wars with paintball, and if you got shot you would just have to go home?

You're right Joe, but I guess the American people are getting what they ask for. Politicians hear the cry "there oughta be a law" or "they should do something about ...", and they react in order to get re-elected. Everybody wants activist politicians. There doesn't seem to be a market for politicians who simply want to "support and defend the Constitution" and protect the liberties of it's citizens. That's not too glamorous.

That quote is pure evil. If you truly believe this is the way our elected officials operate, why don't we have revolution in the streets right now? If politicians who believe this way are still in office, then the American public is basically saying they're OK with this.

... every knee shall bow and every tongue confess ... one day.

Good quote, but not the whole law according to Jesus. Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. The second is like it, love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus said this sums up the whole law. Maybe that's what is lacking Me Again.

Good point David. When I first read it, I thought, great quote. But your comment is more correct. Would that we could all live the faith we profess, but the old man raises his ugly head ... one day we will. Merry Christmas.

Wooooowww ... that's HEAVY ... pass me the bong dude.
