America is more at risk of war than any country on earth, given her wealth, and her status as latecomer to globalism. What is 400 years to 10,000 years? America always underestimates her risk, as well as her vulnerability, but she cannot hide under a bucket; she must engage the world hoping not to be attacked, but knowing full well that one can come anytime from anywhere, and it won't be like Pearl Harbor because the technology of war has moved beyond the technology of WWII, and in some ways, is more lethal than WWII was. It is more dangerous, not less dangerous. Coupled with global communication, America has never been at more risk, and underestimating that fact would be her downfall. At the same time, too many precautions can produce stagnation in her economy for being overprotective, much as the way overprotective mothering jails a child. America would be well to attend to ancient emotional conflicts and try to heal those to ensure her own safety but she can never be truly safe.
