If the Atheistic practice of no religion is a religion, then maybe the Lion's club or Rotary is a religion.

One man's theology is another man's heresy.

The adherents of Christianity have done good things no doubt. However, under the banner of Christianity and religion we have had wars, murders, burning witches at the stake ,and a host of other atrocities too numerous to mention. As to Christian theology, I believe that the word "superstition" is appropriate unless you believe that Adam and Eve were real people and that Noah got all those cotton pickin' animals on his boat.

J Carlton, I'm with you on organized religion, but I include disorganized religions also.

Assuming there is a God, this could be correct.

A theocratic government would be one of the worst governments. Believe what we say or it's the rack for you, or worse. Before the Enlightenment you could be burned at the stake for saying that the world was round. This notion was compliments of the ruling religious leaders of the day. Once the priests, imams, or fundamentalists take over, you better head for the hills.

I agree with Reston. As far as I am concerned, all religions are man made, including Christianity. I believe that the apostle Paul dreamed this one up. If a fundamentalist wants to believe that a talking snake in a garden caused all the trouble, he's free to believe that or in Santa Claus for that matter.

Democracy always ends up as mob rule.

More troubles, murders, wars, witch burnings, beheadings, and so on have happened in the name of religion, than from almost any other cause.

I agree with the 1st 3 sentences but I have doubts that we need more religion.

Good quote from the man who had a war to centralize power in Washington.

I have been in Peales hometown, Bowersville, Ohio. You know it's a small town when the Post Office and restaurant are in the same small building.

Good show J Carlton. I have a few friends that aught to no better that think if drugs were made legal, someone might actually use drugs. Oh wait, people are using drugs now, who knew.

Slaughtering the heretics, Sounds an awful lot like Islam.

The current New York mayor seems to agree with Rudy. If the whole state is not a Nanny state, New York City is surely the Nanny city. Check those calories on the menu and heaven forbid if you drink a large soda.

Jimi , I'm sure that Jews being hauled off to certain death in a concentration camp were well aware of Hitler's "humanity". As to his "genius, you must not be referring to his military genius as he made military blunders , one after another. The invasion of Russia was just one example. Our mistake was helping Stalin, thinking he was an ally, and then turning over half of Europe to this mass murderer.

In my case, maybe hanging 5 times.

5 stars due to the truth of this quote. Just " follow the money" to get at the facts.

About the only media where you can get something close to the truth is the internet and you have to be careful there.

Archer, thanks for the warning and good comment Ken. I'm in total agreement on hate speech laws.

Censorship carried to an extreme conclusion gives us horrors like the war on drugs.

If Waffler gives thumbs down it must be an accurate and true quote, and If you rob Peter to pay Paul, you will always have the support of Paul.

Nick nailed it. Government is pure force, nothing else. Voting does no good whatsoever as the government gets bigger and more oppressive with each election. Hear a Canadian tell it like it is. Watch, "The Truth about voting" by Stephan Molyneaux on YouTube and see why working your tail off to get someone elected doesn't change anything.
