I'm not so sure that all of the Fine Arts majors flipping burgers at McD's would agree with this one... likewise simple hard work does not solve the problem... luck & wisdom help, but not as much as a rich mommy & daddy who leave you millions (especially w/ the GOP's thrust to eliminate estate taxes for the wealthiest 74 families in the US) on top of a 6 digit yearly allowance... (know where I can sign up for that gig? ;-).

Uh... I'm not sure all the Fine Arts majors actually got an education. Funny that most Fine Arts majors are generally socialistic and believe it is everyone else's responsibility to provide for them after they've taken on a lself-inflicted life of financial poverty. Wow, that's a pretty sweet gig -- choose a life of poverty and force everyone around to pay for that choice, gee, you know where I can sign up?

Think you guys are missing the point...I don't believe that Aristotle is addressing financial provision, but how education as knowledge, understanding and wisdom can enrich the lives of those in old age. Remember that his education was NOT job-training, but the pursuit of wisdom!

Brenda is absolutely right, I think, but then again, senility has wiped out most of my cognitive ability.

The truth is a rare and precious treasure.

From the perspective of a Nation, it would be well to observe Aristotle's sentiment. Let the end of a thing be better than the beginning. consumer sentiment dictates the success of an artist skill and applicable gift. So many waist there time on fanciful wishes when seeking an education without prior skills or gift.

As always no specifics by the kids. Specifically the individual seeking knowledge must learn to evade the gangster predator with more effectiveness and efficiency or she will, wearing her war paint, ponce on you. Socialism is the challenge of social abilities to create safety.
