Don Demetrick Quote

“The sentiment that modern day ordinary Canadians do not need firearms for protection is pleasant but unrealistic. To discourage responsible deserving Canadians from possessing firearms for lawful self-defence and other legitimate purposes is to risk sacrificing them at the altar of political correctness.”

hmm that socialist think tank that dominates the government PR divisions (industrial media complex) and all else that defines what is political correctness should be exposed for the demonic despots they are. A thumb's down for the mentality that has enslaved the Canadians and the rest of the word. Five stars for the exposure and awakening.

Hats off to this Judge for speaking the obvious. The right to self defense and survival in the face of aggression are as natural as the Sun. Canada's gun laws are ambiguous and subject to interpretation by Judges and Policemen "on the spot". Federal law contradicts Provincial law and both are ridiculous.

Disarming law abiding citizens puts them at the mercy of criminals who will have guns. Liberals know this but continue to try to take away citizens guns. Makes you a little suspicious of their motives.

Excuse me?  Not true, not even close.

J Carlton, Calgary

Reston, you know nothing of Canada, obviously. I happen to be a law abiding (dual) Canadian...and I'm very well armed along with 7 million other Canadians.

Well said. I believe there are more guns per capita in Canada than in the US. For whatever reason, Canada's murder rate is about 1% of that in the US. Go figure. Obviously it is not the guns that cause crime, but the people...

No truly free man will ever be debarred the right to bear arms. The right to bear arms is not just the right to own and carry an object, its the right to defend one's own life, liberty, and property from any force that wishes to remove them. That includes foreign enemies, unlawful citizens, and even one's own government. The founders passed the second amendment so that the government has to respect all the others. If the government becomes destructive of our rights we must alter or abolish it and establish new guards for our future security. That means that the last ultimate check We the People have on our government is the ability to destroy it. When the government no longer respects the rights guaranteed to us by God, the only thing you have left to defend your life and your liberty, is your own two hands. And I don't know about you, but when that day comes, I prefer mine to filled with a gun.

Publius, that was very concise. I'd like to use that. Eric! You might want to add Publius to your library. :)

Just replace the word 'Canadians' and insert the word 'Americans' and it's as if we are reading our own Constitution. However, it would be more than sacrificing at the altar of political correctness. Confiscation of American citizen's firearms would be nothing less than another giant step toward totalitarianism, a dictatorship not much different than the take over in Germany that led to the holocaust.

J Carlton, or anyone else may use any of the ideas expressed under the name Publius as long as your cause is to advocate and defend liberty and justice. That is our duty as citizens of mankind.

Thank You Publius. Absolutely, my calling is the education of those ignorant of the tenets of Liberty.

Publius, I couldn't have said it better  well done!

You're sounding more empowered, now that you are armed.  ;-)  Frankly I WOULD like to hear you say it, since you used to speak against guns.  I am curious how you reconcile this with your progressive leanings...
