If there is a law enforce it. The way govenrment is suppose to work is the legislature(s) pass law and the executive is suppose to enforce them. Just like illegal immigration if marijauna laws are on the books enforce them. Honesty in government is the best policy and until the people through their congresses change the law the laws should be Enforced. The pay and advancement of the hard working and courageous law officers have nothing to do with it..

The real problem is that Congress passes bills that they don't read and don't write, and neither do they cite the Constitutional authority for the legislation. While the Constitution authorizes Congress to tax imported marijuana, it may not make a state's commodity illegal -- especially if it never leaves the state. But in a de facto democracy, if the media can get the populace clamoring for "somebody to do something" it doesn't matter if it is lawful or not -- majority rules (and if you believe that, you are part of the problem). That is why Presidents may declare war on anything and anyone as long as they can get the majority to goosestep in unison. Many legalized drugs are FAR more dangerous than natural herbs and medicines -- in fact, government-mandated ADD drugs were prescribed to the Columbine boys and the latest Virginia Tech suicide-murderers. Even the MANY anti-depressant drugs being touted on television have disclaimers that users may exhibit suicidal tendencies...! Give me a break.

Right now the USA has one fifth of the world's population, but get this, we have twenty five percent of the world's prison inmates. The next 2 behind at imprisoning its people is Russia and China. Those evil totalitarian states don't equal us when combined together. This is a disgrace. Why does this happen? Because our prisons are run by private businesses, and they push for stiffer and more frequent sentences, as it is good for business. Our reps that are supposed to protect us sell us into slavery.
