David, wouldn't you prefer to think that people would be "friendly to US interests" due to the fact that we are honest in our dealings, and that those3 dealings would be beneficial to the parties involved, as opposed to installing dictatorships to force US ineterests on foreigners? These things alone would have toppled any president, yet, he perservered and succeeded under impossible conditions. I think that history will mark him as an extraordinary president who was able to deal with extreme adversity while reming calm and resolute.

Where does our government get the authority to take over auto manufacturers, interfering with our bankrupotcy laws, close down entrepreneurs selling the cars, the authority to keep Boeing from producing American products in the state of their choice, the unmitigated and stupefying notion that they should stop American/American friendly companies from drilling for oil in the gulf while the Chinese and others drill ? The quote was taken out of context, though I suppose we all know what the context was. Still, generally speaking, Mr Bush had a point. If Americans had taken his advise to assume the worst BEFORE he became president, the world might not be such a mess today.
