I hate to say it about a Founding Father, especially George Washington, but the thought is archaic.

A timeless fact that can only be ignored at our peril. George was the wisest and best president that we ever had or ever will have. He is the only reason we have this republic as it is. He could have been King but he choose not to be.

Speaking to the nature of man, it is very sad but far to often true (yesterday, today, and tomorrow).

I gladly yield to any opinion of the honorable George Washington -- he was an INCREDIBLE man. I happily accept these words as truth just knowing who he was. I am still amazed at how lucky We the People are to have had such a man as the father of our country.

The thought that George's statement is archaic could only have validity in the event that the nature of man "evolves" past the use of war. Unfortunately if we ever get to the point that we relax due to an illusion of a permanent peace we will probably pay for that illusion dearly.

i think its pretty great even tho im in the 8th grade i still think its pretty great comin from a founding father like George Washington. Like Archer said he was and INCREDIBLE man

Si vis pacem para bellum, if you want peace prepare for war. It has been said time and again and it is still true. George Washington was a great man who had many great quotes. If only our presidents nowadays were as wise . . .

Mary in Largo, the thought is never archaic and never will be. The fact that you think it is tells me that some of us have been lulled into a "very" false sense of security. Especially now, with an impostor in the White House and the UN calling the shots.
