    Congress and the courts decide our freedoms today, saving the most for themselves. They exempt themselves from the burdens they put on our shoulders.

      I am not sure there is enough here to determine what Mencken meant by "equal freedom". I kind of like the rest of the quote. I don't know that I can take freedom; I am free therefore, I manifest freedom, even amongst the occupying statist theocracy infesting this land.
