If this statement is at all true of teachers relationships with students it is true of all of our relationships with young people. Of course young people form their opinions and views from the adults they meet. Granted that teachers are in a greater position of influence but I would suggest that persons of all ages are constantly looking for prophets. Ever watch religious TV.

Of course the "true God" is the collective of uber-elite socialists and the "Kingdom of God" is the State. Dewey was an unabashed Fascist (progressive, in other words).

Together isn't fascism (centralized control) and progressive (social reform) an oxymoron? Isn't right-wing conservatism (against change) and a theocracy more closely aligned to fascism? And, the need to change the status quo more aligned with being a progressive?

Would be nice to see some of the kids from the polygamists and the Branch Davidians (remember them) and all of these other drop out of society home schoolers meet some real people and get a real life.

Fascism and progressivism of the early 20th century are very closely related. Both are socialist movements. Mussolini started his political life as an international socialist but became disillusioned with it when he determined that the international movement would never really succeed because of national rivalry. Then he became a national socialist because he believed he could make it work on a national level. Progressivism draws its inspiration from Fabian socialism (ie international socialism). Progressivism is not just about social reform, it is economic as well. FDR's New Deal was entirely progressive and economic and Mussolini would have been proud to call it his own.

Liberals love to say that fascism is of the right, that Hitler was a right winger. This is non sense, Hitler was a socialists , a definite left winger. NAZI meant National Socialist Party. Fascists and todays Liberals are kindred spirits.

John Dewey was instrumental in the development of the current-day public school system in America. He is exactly what is wrong with 'school' today. My experience mirrors this philosophy -- I was not encouraged to learn but to obey. I could hardly wait to go to the library when given the chance.

A slight modification to my above statement is, my eldest started college at age 14 and was 15 at that school's year end. The occupying statist theocracy infesting this land has set itself apart as the supreme god.
