Mario Palmieri Quote

“Fascist ethics begin ... with the acknowledgment that it is not the individual who confers a meaning upon society, but it is, instead, the existence of a human society which determines the human character of the individual. According to Fascism, a true, a great spiritual life cannot take place unless the State has risen to a position of pre-eminence in the world of man. The curtailment of liberty thus becomes justified at once, and this need of rising the State to its rightful position.”

Not sure how to rate this -- 5 stars for accuracy, but thumbs down in support of it. Fascism is a worship of power. Funny how the left never seem to recognize that fascism is the foundation of their ideology.

If you substitute fascist with liberal in the above quote and signed it obama or pelosi , isn't that pretty close to where we are now with the current administration ?

J Carlton, Calgary

that's about right tony. And nothing could be more repulsive except maybe rape or murder...all of which should be punishable by death.

The State has no business meddeling in any individual's spiritual life. The curtailment of liberty NEVER falls within the realm of justice. For justice is nothing other than the will of God. We were endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights. So the same God that gave us life also gave us liberty.

It is the opposite of our nations spiritual roots and fundamental principals. The individual citizen being raised up in a spiritually sound life first, then be appointed to a position of authority to guide the nation in protecting our liberty. Individual first, then the state. Study long and look deep to our liberty and its roots then one will find the governor though very simple, which is not in practice. There is a rock spiritual and phisical upon which the republic rest. In it you will find six hundred and thirty five laws, with in theses sacred laws of conduct and commerce we,and our founding fathers took and take our stand of liberty and freedom being ordained of God for the individual and nation. And because there is no respect of persons with God nor the Constitution the common man should get a square deal. The threads of socialism run through our country so thick, sense there instituting, most think that every one should get there cake and eat it to. But especially government workers. Remember our nation was founded upon grace for all by way of being set at liberty with secured freedom. Not oppression as we have today. Freedom is fragile , ask any addict. This country is addicted to socialism, but asked what of our parents did it not save them ? No it did not ! Their hard work did. In the end the hospital got it all. And because liberty is oppressed in this country heritage was lost also.

It's interesting how many people don't know directions. Fascism is to the right, along with conservatives and reactionaries. Liberals and Radicals are to the left and communism to the far left. What we have in the U. S. now is almost pure fascism. If you don't believe it, look up the definition.

Dick, let us know your thoughts on the 2nd plank of the communist manifesto, collectivist enslavement by the dole, entitlement programs or Social Security, and/or the occupying statist theocracy infesting this land's seminary curriculum.

Patrick Henry, Red Hill

Absolutist ideologies, whatever their coloration, are not rooted in Reality and are,
by their essentially unnatural natures, inimical to Life and Liberty.

Dick, fascism is a form of socialism, and yes, I would agree with you that fascism has been embraced in the US -- you can thank FDR for that. But if there is a right and left, there is an up and down, and a back and front. Additionally there is a direction, a heading, a speed, an attitude, and a pitch. It takes 2 wings to fly, plus you have to know where this route takes you.

Where does socialism lead us? Either towards communism or fascism -- totalitarianism. Make the distinction between how a socialist answers the question 'who am I and why am I here?' and how a freeman answers it. Are you flying the plane or are you merely a passenger? And what about everybody else? Can they fly or are they to be grounded until their flight plan is approved?

There is another spectrum besides the right/left supremacy of the State. I see the independent and responsible in the center, moving to the right, left, up, down are different flavors of delegating responsibility and can take different political forms. If we go too far away from the center, we become indebted, dependent, and potentially bound by the false identity taken on by using our responsibilities as currency. Go too far to the edge, and the forces of nature will remind you -- to ignore them is to become lost.

Be empowered and return to center! ;-)
