For we would consider the contrary of what the liar said to be certain. But the opposite of truth has a hundred thousand faces and an infinite field.”Michel De Montaigne ~ Michel De Montaigne [Michel Eyquem De Montaigne] (1532-1592) French Renaissance scholar, philosopher, writer Truth , Wisdom Ratings and Comments Reply Mike, Norwalk 8/10/09 YEP ! ! ! Reply J Carlton, Calgary 8/10/09 In the Media, at the political podium, in the schools...everywhere you look, you see the opposite of truth. 1Reply jim k, austin 8/10/09 True, but we can be certain that the opposite of what the current administration is telling us about their government health care plan is pretty close to the truth. Reply E Archer, NYC 8/10/09 If the 'truth' is accompanied with thousands of pages of explanation and hundreds of politicians preaching from the pulpit, chances are it's a deception. The truth takes few words to tell. Reply Doug, Calif 8/10/09 Archer speaks the truth! Reply warren, olathe 8/10/09 Sometimes the truth needs detailed explanation while the lie is engineered to be believable with out explanation. That is why our education system has been corrupted. It helps sell the lie. To see the truth one needs to have a knowledge and belief system based on fact. What many people now think they know and believe is based on false precepts and feelings rather than fact and reason. A survey showed that the majority of high school students believe that truth is defined by the individual’s feelings not by fact. This leads to being easily convinced of something because of how one feels about the seller while all conflicting information is viewed as an attack rather than legitimate debate. Reply Ken, Allyn, WA 8/16/09 When a lie is discovered the standard operating procedure is to tweak it just enough so that the proof of the lie no longer applies. The skeptic then must spend more time and effort to find additional evidence that will disprove that lie. It is simply a method of running out the clock or tiring out the skeptic, until finally there is no opposition left. Reply Fredrick William Sillik, Anytown 2/2/23 Penetrating insight.
