It wasn't Robert the Bruce that made that quote, was a part of the 1320 Declaration of Arbroath to the pope, in support of Robert Bruce being King of the sovereign nation of Scotland and having his excommunication lifted, made by 8 Earls and 38 Barons.

The King wrote a seperate letter.
