Samuel AdamsSamuel Adams, (1722-1803), was known as the "Father of the American Revolution."

Famous Samuel Adams Quote

“And that the said Constitution be never construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the press,  or the rights of conscience; or to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms; or to raise standing armies, unless necessary for the defense of the United States, or of some one or more of them; or to prevent the people from petitioning, in a peaceable and orderly manner, the federal legislature, for a redress of grievances; or to subject the people to unreasonable searches and seizures of their persons, papers or possessions.”

Wisdom here folks. And a further benefit is that which Robert Heinlein brought to our attention, "An armed society is a polite society." Might add a bit more civility to our public discourse.

Amen on the quote! Infowars what a sick joke. I personally know for a fact the man lies! The site is a load of manure.

WOW, what a difference a couple of centuries makes. I've commented on it before, but an attorney friend of mine was stopped (driving a Ryder truck, filled with his recently deceased mother's household items), arrested under authority of the patriot act, held without charge, and only because of what he knew and getting a phone call off to his attorney brother before they took him in was he able to get loose after a few days. HMMM, secure in our persons, papers, or possessions, not any more.

Interesting ... the liberal-socialists have nothing to say.

This should have been posted in one of those 'Free Speech Zones' (fenced in areas far away from the Convention hall) to remind us all of the current state of affairs in America.

The problem is that Congress does not care what it is authorized to do by the Constitution. They are an oligarchy, not representatives of the people, and they will do as they please and twist the meaning of the Constitution to justify their actions to an ignorant public.

With the actions that are presently underway by the fed. with FEMA CAMPS is it not time to organize ourselves as a force and voice? We already know they are watching certain groups of people with intent to control, shall we do as germany did prior to WW2 and stay silent to the gov. controls that performed the holocost.

    J Carlton, Calgary

I think GWB's comment was reflective of almost the entire Congress and Senate..."The Constitution is just a damn piece of paper"...nuff said?

Talking about NOT being secure in our persons, papers, or possessions -- can I get a hand from TSA (ouch, not there)

    jim k, Austin,Tx

Maybe the judge who ruled that the government cannot force anyone to buy health insurance has some respect for the constitution. It's obvious that very few in the Congress do.

    E Archer, NYC

Sheesh -- is the Constitution even in effect? It seems like the exact opposite, no matter whether the Democrats or Republicans are in charge. Has everyone forgotten that habeas corpus is STILL suspended?

Where's Waffler? I'm surprised he hasn't got another pin-headed opinion to add here on this one. I saw a woman who was testifying in front of some kind of panel on the banning of ALL guns. Chuck The Smuck Shoomer, and I believe Barney The Fairy were on the committee. She explained how she was caught in a killing spree where both her mother and father were killed. She normally carried her pistol in her purse, but because of new laws in Texas where carrying without a permit was a crime. Her closing remarks were astonishing! I paraphrase: Ladies and gentlemen, you are talking about banning guns for hunting and sport. I am so frustrated listening to you. It's not about hunting or sport, it's about the ability for everyone in this gallery and myself being able to protect our lives from all of YOU up there! You could have heard a pin drop.

    GunnyCee, Durham

I cut one of my sentences off. What I meant was that because of new laws, she decided not to break the law and didn't carry her pistol any more.

    J Carlton, Calgary

Gunny, she had left her gun in her truck at the time when her parents were being murdered right in front of her. Apparently the local (ridiculous) law stated she could not bring her gun into the restaraunt. Funny how the murderer didn't respect the law...they never do.

    Cher, Freehold

Words of a righteous free man and constitution of America that should never ever change.

    Mike, Norwalk

A question; if the press is the structure that infringes on natural law, justice and liberty from its position as the 4th branch of government's propaganda arm, does the principle still hold?

    1776 Liberal Whig, Boston

2018 ...To date there's no evidence that Samuel Adams said this.

    Neal Obstat, Hadleyburg

Of course, this proposal failed to win approval.
