Thomas Jefferson Quote

“Laws are made for men of ordinary understanding, and should, therefore, be construed by the ordinary rules of common sense. Their meaning is not to be sought for in metaphysical subtleties, which may make anything mean everything or nothing at pleasure.”

TJ is ever a puzzlement. He can be profound as in this quote or simply without morality or responsibility as in too much of his life. Great minds are ever such I fear. So, I salute this quote! It is the truth we believe and subscribe to in the USA which owes so much to his efforts. Where would he stand in the DC of today?

We have seen in our lifetimes the Federal Courts make laws as they go where there was no law in the first place. Forbidden to pass laws by the constitution-they simply call them court orders with all that legal jargon no one understands.

RICO laws are a good example. If the Feds can't get you violating a "real" law, they just get you for "rackateering", which can mean about anything.

A good expose' on man's short comings. By what common sense states that an abstract concept (government - once perceived a general title to hired servants) has all rights (ability to license) while the organic / tangible sovereign master(s) has no rights? By what common sense explains the once servant's ability to commit perpetual larceny, with impunity (funny money, income tax, etc.) on the once sovereign master ? By what common sense does the moral man punish those that have harmed no one or, violated any right of another ? ETC., ETC., ETC. ? ? ? Is it common non-sense ?

and thus the GOP takes steps like naming a bill to allow more air pollution a "clear skies act", pretty clear which party is the liar in congress...

He speaks, almost prophetically, about the UCC. The Universal Commercial Code is the word game used to truly enslave our populace. From taxes taken from Income directly, to the indirect taxes in the form of licensing (i.e. traffic laws), the UCC is the 'artificial' law put on top of our Common Law. When you agree to these 'privileges' and become a corporation, you are subject to said laws. The game itself is wordplay. Understanding frees you. TJ knew this could come about, and clearly, warned us.
