You get more for not working than you will for working, and more for not raising a hog than for raising it.”Will Rogers ~ Will Rogers (1879-1935) American humorist Collectivism , Hypocrisy , Welfare Ratings and Comments 2 Reply Mike, Norwalk 11/19/09 how true it is, how true it is ;-) 2 Reply Anonymous 11/19/09 Yes indeed, and the non worker is paid by the government by taxing (stealing) from those who do work and use that to bait the nnon working people into free lunch programs designed to prompt and ensure their dependence on government from birth to death with free choice tossed into the rubbish bin as government gets stronger in relation to the amount of dependence the people have on it. What is the result of all this? We will soon know and God help us then. Reply gustavo, atlanta 11/19/09 the ballot box is the only answer , no not the only answer. revolution either non violent or violent. God help this republic should another civil war likebefore take place. Reply Waffler, Smith 11/19/09 Where have you guys been. Any student of recent events knows that welfare as we knew it was tremendously changed in the '90's with Clinton as President and a Republican Congress. Not that we won't always have poor and underachievers with us but things are better today in that regard than they were 15 years ago. Some guys like Mike will always be negativists. 1Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 11/19/09 Not even close to a reflection of any general reality at any time in our history... remember, he was in the humor business, not a journalist or historian. 1Reply RBESRQ 11/20/09 Right on Reston 1 Reply E Archer, NYC 11/20/09 Still true today. Hundreds of millions of acres of farm land is left fallow in exchange for government checks to farmers to NOT grow anything there. And that is but ONE example of government subsidies designed to keep America from being productive. Not to mention that the money paid to farmers is BORROWED at interest for the rest of us to pay and pay and pay forever.
