Reply Abigail, Newport 3/4/11 re: William James quote What do we own anymore actually? Not even our bodies for to do anything we are watched or taxed and now we have gov health care...we are moving in the direction of international collectivism...name something you have in your home if you have one that didn't require permission of the state to get there (oops, the gas you used to transport it was taxed). When you think in those terms-nothing is yours freely... 1 Reply Abigail, Newport 3/4/11 re: Sophocles quote The Governor is correct. Unions have no business in public sector jobs as they see no limit to the depth of the taxpayer pocket. Those who ran away are not acting with honor. They are slackers who are stealing public money while not doing their job. This an excellent quote. Reply Abigail, Newport 3/4/11 re: R. Buckminster Fuller quote Real oppression can only increase. 1 Reply Abigail, Newport 3/2/11 re: Frank Chodorov quote Thank you, Mike, and you know that there are just those grass roots groups working to do the things you have suggested. It is frustrating. The apathy we witness is the most disturbing of all. So basically, in your opinion, those of us who actually care that we have a republic that is being run over by a bus need to continue slogging away to right this wrong. I appreciate your answer. I am doing so daily. Sadly, I am often met with resistance...for many people want to be 'happy' and not educated. It seems momentary happiness is more important than long term freedom to some. I however, will stand with you and work towards restoration. Pray we are successful. Reply Abigail, Newport 3/1/11 re: Linda Bowles quote Regarding Cal's comment: by interpreting the law to suit their fancy rather than simply reading the law as it is and obeying it. The Constitution is simple, it is thorough and it is easy to read. We are being hoodwinked at every turn, we (and the last 3 generations) have allowed it to be done and I am pleading with you to come up with solutions. Other than selling all things owned and filling your pocket with gold and walking everywhere unemcumbered from mainstream, I am wondering how one returns to the freeman of our forefathers. I am seeking the answer and will stand with those who will do this. Perhaps the new UNITED STATES government??? www.RepublicoftheunitedStates.org 1 Reply Abigail, Newport 3/1/11 re: Frank Chodorov quote I would like to see the efforts of those who 'think' be put to use here. Each time we are met with one of these brilliant quotes, it would be wonderful to see at least one suggestion about how to turn the horse around that we are riding over the cliff on as a nation. Surely out of all the brilliant minds that read this, there is one person with a mind that can come up with with a solution. We are seeking a statesman who cares about the nation, however, we are only getting politicians....suggestions? 1 Reply Abigail, Newport 12/17/10 re: Henry David Thoreau quote Abigail Adams said, "When a mind is raised and animated by scenes that engage the heart, then those qualities which would otherwise lay dormant wake into life and form the character of the hero and the statesman." We need to pray, friends, that there will be someone with the intestinal fortitude and the strength of character to LEAD us back to our Founder's vision. 4 Reply Abigail, newport 12/1/10 re: P. J. O'Rourke quote Self-responsibility, self-reliability, self-sufficiency...liberty. Reply Abigail, newport 11/19/10 re: Ron Paul quote He is right. He is also one of only 2 Congressmen who honored his Oath of Office by voting in a manner that supported the US Constitution and your liberty 100% of the time...the other Congressman was Flake (AZ). There was but 1 Senator who did this 100% of the time, Coburn (OK). Not a good record for our congress in 2009. This info is available from The Freedom Index 12/7/09. Reply Abigail, newport 11/18/10 re: L. M. Heroux quote Self responsibilty, self reliabilty, self sufficiency. No omamma care-anywhere 3 Reply Abigail, Newport 11/2/10 re: Bruce Ackerman quote I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God. Can we fire those who make this Oath...and then ignore it while in office? 2 Reply Abigail, Newport 11/2/10 re: Dr. Ron Paul quote Will we now fight for our Constitution? Do we have the beginning with the new faces we see today? 2 Reply Abigail, Newport 10/25/10 re: Rick Gaber quote Well stated! Perfect! 1 Reply Abigail, Newport 10/22/10 re: Eric Felton quote yes, yes, yes!!!! We need to elect some real people (as opposed to career politicians), warts and all, and if/when they do not honor their Oath of Office and vote to support the US Constitution, they must be replaced with another. It is our fault this has happened...too busy living our lives, but now our lives are at stake, and we must restore our Founders vision or we will lose all hope of being free people. 1 Reply Abigail, Newport 9/5/10 re: Jacob G. Hornberger quote A RATIONAL THOUGHT! AT LAST!!!!! 2 Reply Abigail, Newport 8/10/10 re: Lord Acton quote Are there any honorable men left? If so we have only voted 3 of them into office...Flake (AZ), Paul (TX), Coburn (OK). That is not a great record when the majority are communists (progressives) Better do better next time around. Men must stand for something: personal liberty, God, family, and country. Anything less is treasonous. We may wish to explore GOOOH.com for a new way of gathering constitutional candidates. It favors not parties, but men and women of honor. Reply Abigail, Newport 7/29/10 re: Benjamin Disraeli quote I think the truth is as obvious as the nose on our face. But we aren't looking at it. In fact we have accepted a lawless nation over one that should be guided by the US Constitution. 1 Reply Abigail, Newport 7/15/10 re: Molière quote If there exists agreed upon principles (or laws), such as the United States Constitution, and there are those who would give an Oath of Office to uphold those principles (or laws); then to do so would be virtuous. To do anything other than what was sworn to would be hypocracy. And hypocracy is what we witness today as our representatives are wined, dined, and bribed to do the bidding of whomever has the most money, however indirectly, to further the agenda of said rep. No principles exist in over 90% of those we have chosen to represent us. It is our responsiblility to ferret out those who are hypocrites and know who we are voting for. So we too suffer hypocracy...for many of us take the easy path when voting by choosing the 'familiar name' or the person who promises the most-even if the promises defy the laws of our country. Reply Abigail, Newport 7/9/10 re: Jean-Jacques Rousseau quote Is it just me or are there only 12 people who read and respond to these? I am taking a poll...I look forward to the quotes, and your comments, but it is most always just us... I love this quote but wonder, have all the really bright folks already died....and the few that remain are not running for any office... Reply Abigail, Newport 7/9/10 re: Epes Sargent quote ...as we witness daily.... Reply Abigail, Newport 7/8/10 re: Grover Cleveland quote Bravo! Reply Abigail, Newport 7/7/10 re: Benjamin Franklin quote You need not give up ANY liberty if you are self-sufficient, self reliable, and self responsible. You are then allowed unalienable rights for if you are all of those things, you would be demanding the same of those you elect. Has the 'majority' been asleep? Or are they disinterested? Or do they want someone to take care of them? I am of the ilk of the 1st sentence, tho my mail list has grown shorter due to the fact that many family and friends have asked that I not write them for they do not agree with my 'extreme conservative values'. I don't think those are extreme values. I find them the road to liberty and self respect...I am in charge of my own security. How hard is it? And please don't include me in all the mandates and safety laws...I can take care of myself. 3 Reply Abigail, Newport 7/6/10 re: Patrick Henry quote Thank you Patrick Henry, I could not have said it better myself!
