... and so we have, so we have... (2006.11.07, the day we finally said "NO!")

Speak out now against King George & his hench men!

This is a very out dated quote... and the posts here clearly indicate that there is a strong anarchist and pro-big-business slant taking over, matched by those who pray for the coming of Global Thermonuclear War and Armaggeddon... seems to me like these are the philosophies to fear today, not Marx's which are irrelovant in today's world.

Given that the statement above that the U.S. national debt is "hundreds of trillions" is off by two orders of magnitude (it is currently just over $8.6 trillion, or put otherwise 1-4% of the claimed number), I'd guess that the rest of the analysis is just as inaccurate... sure looks it from the history I've studied.

D.M & Jack have it on this one.

It depends upon what "is" is... just what is "wholesome restraint" anyway?

... for the "depotentiated" if nothing else!

I don't believe it for a minute, just another radical with his own agenda...

So what, it's also been said that "the pen is mightier than the sword"...

Actually, there are far worse alternatives, like the government which does the above to one group, while granting special favors to another more privledged group... ya' know, like King George is doing to us now...

It takes much more than that final signing to make it a law, think of all of the backroom deals which go into constructing the text in the first place... and then of all of the hard work to turn it from just words on paper into true law (understood and observed by all). So, on the surface correct & valid, but oh so incomplete... but then again, it is really all that most Americans can understand today, and thus one of the best minds in ages in the office had a staff which had to dumb everything down for their employers (us)... says a lot about how bad King George's group is when even we can see how down right dumb they are!

These rights are well defined... and are well secured against encroachment... and yet our government is degernateing into tyranny... why? Because the mechanisms for that securing have been compromised by a our own insecurities and lack of understanding... when WE let King George take over both the courts and congress we are telling him to be the tyrant that he is being. So, no, while the sentiment is nice, this quote is incomplete. To guard against tyanny we must also take an active role.

I'm not sure we can even measure this, for those who often employ the most underhanded and questionable means rarely tell us what their true aims are... King George will never reveal what true goals exist for his actions (democracy in the Middle East or Armaggeddon or just profit for big business), and yet his means are clearly flawed and questionable (illegal wire-tapping, torture, etc)... that he declares that his goals are pure does not make it so, especially when he chooses the paths that he walks which prevents us from truely knowing what those goals are...

A very pessimistic view of life, and one that I'm not sure is true... while there is no doubt that some individuals will use their power in their roles in government in abusive manners, many will simply be fulfilling the roles which society has asked them to fulfill. This hardly makes for "criminality" (King George aside). Yet, since there is the posiblity of such abuse (of which King George and his henchmen are wonderful examples who "go the extra mile" in their illegalities), the observation gets one star...

King George is a perfect example! Counter examples in this case do nothing to disprove the validity of the statement.

"All men(sic) are created equal..." unless they are female or gay or not white or ... The "Defense of Marriage Act" is just another example of the radical religious right stealing our language from us! It is an attack on the equality of ALL people.

I'm betting that David would grant some old white men the right to control a woman's body against her and her doctor's wishes...

"Clear Skys" & "Clean Water" acts now seem to mean "its ok for our big business friends to make a buck by poluting 'cause I can afford to buy bottled water and live upwind of the sources"... They have stollen our language from us.

Ditto Jack & Mike! As for the NYT, the bigger the mess King George makes, the harder its clean-up becomes, and yes, that also entails needing to adapt views on what is right given the present situation... something the NYT it seems can do, while King George seems totally incapable of... pretty clear to all who the bigger fool is.

Thanks Jack! Right on both posts! Ditto Mike.

And thus the goal that was set forth to have checks and balances... a goal which was repeatedly set aside during 2001-2006... time will tell if this gets corrected or not... but clearly it will be many years before the damage can be undone, if for no other reason than the ideologues that were placed in the judiciary for life.

As with Mike, my first thoughts went to the strong parallel to organized religion... only time will tell how the new batch (2006.11) in Congress will rule... I'm not so jaded as to prejudge their performance or to assume the worse of them...

The marvel of this quote, is it even works right for the perps of all the first actions... for eventually there will be an uprising against such perps, and there will be no one who will stand for them... for they too are victims of their own crimes.
