Ms. Rand has described government--not business. She was as pro busines and wary of government as anyone you will ever meet. Government has the use of force...she came from Soviet Russia..and knew what governent was...businesss does not legislate. Government produces nothing. 1 Reply MK, Houston 5/18/06 re: Lyndon B. Johnson quote Goodness...great advise....who said LBJ wasn't a good politician...he could say the right things, sound believable, and have an excuse for not doing them. People loved him so much that they literally came ouf of the grave to vote for him in Duvall County, TX (ie for those who are too young to remember, many voters were later found to have been deceased for quite some time.) 1 Reply MK, Houston 5/16/06 re: John Adams quote Hi David in Hollywood, re "How could anyone refute morality?" Oddly, there are all to many who do just that by claiming that THEY are the standard for it (see above), and just as many debunked the idea of truth when they hold themselves up as the standard for it--ie "your truth is not my truth" Poppycock! Truth is objective and outside of us...truth is truth. Adams was saying that our constitution was designed for persons with self control and that it is not capable of governing any other because of the freedoms and limited government it installs. Any wonder why debauchery is rampant? Why liberty is taken as license? Wanna guess how long we will tolerate that and give up our liberties and freedoms so we can live in pseudo peace and safety? I weep at what has happened to our wonderful America at the hands of those who know no God but themselves. Reply MK, Houston 5/16/06 re: Mohammed Ali quote As another said well, a young man at 15 that is not liberal has no heart....an older man at 30 that is not a conservative has not brain. Guess we see the progression there. Indeed, some people have 1 year of experience THIRTY TIMES!!! 3 Reply MK, Houston 5/16/06 re: John Quincy Adams quote For all you liberals out there who find yourself suddenly agreeing with John Quincy Adams, note that he was a devout Christian. (pssst: not just any old urge qualifies as a principle to be stood for. For most people, mankind is considerably more than basic biology--duh!!) Reply MK, Houston 2/16/06 re: Richard Salant quote Our Founding Fathers saw Government as the problem, and in a large way, the free Press as the watchdog. Could they have ever imagined that such a free press would intentionally take the side of misinformation? It is a sad, sad thing to see. Shame on them!!! 2 Reply MK, Houston 2/1/06 re: Barry Goldwater quote ...and we would do well to listen. Our founding fathers understood a profound principle--Government, with its monopoly on the use of force, is the ultimate danger to free people. It is necessary, but must be tightly reined...TIGHTLY. As another said, in effect: "A democracy's downfall begins when the people learn they can vote themselves money from the public coffers." 1Reply MK, Houston 1/25/06 re: Vladimir Ilyich Lenin quote Well, good to hear from you Vladimir! By the way, I tried to find a Wal-Mart in your old USSR and couldn't find a one. Couldn't find a Sears either, or a lot of things us ol' dirty capitalists take for granted.. Val...you might consider the wisdom of one Winston Churchhill: "Capitalism's shortcoming is the uneven distribution of wealth, which socialism's virtue is the even distribution of misery." I'll take my chances with capitalism rather than your despotism. God bless (I can still say that here.) SaveOk2 Share on Facebook Tweet Email Print
