That's right! 4 Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 7/16/15 re: Friedrich August von Hayek quote A prime example would be government trying to set minimum wages, the utopian socialist engineers in their never-ending quest for outcome fairness turn a blind eye to equal opportunity which in the long run leads the industrious to personal prosperity. Simply put the socialist planners would rather give a fish every day and lead people into dependency on them and say that is fair then to have people learn to fish so they can have for themselves and sell to others to prosper. Raising minimum wages will cost jobs, you cannot outmaneuver natural law and economics it's like gravity and violating it has consequences. 1 Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 7/8/15 re: Justice Hugo L. Black quote An unconditional right to free speech? Not if you respect the battle flag of the northern army of Virginia or you understand that political correctness is nothing more than cultural Marxism and hate it with every fiber of your being because you know what it was designed to do. 2 Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 7/7/15 re: William Kingdon Clifford quote The "spirit" of the South will rise again, there is already talk of secession or nullification among our people in various states, we know we are living under an increasing tyranny by a bloated out-of-control unconstitutional government who believe they are our masters. There is an awakening taking place but the generations of dumbing down and socialist/communist indoctrination have taken it's toll. Judge Bork believed we were past the tipping point in his book slouching towards Gomorrah of being able to use this now corrupt system to restore our constitutional republic and he may be right but it will not be without a fight! 4 Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 7/3/15 re: Samuel Eliot Morison quote Robert, you are wrong! The Declaration of Independence is part of America's organic law so it most certainly has legal authority. Those atheistic leaning progressives seeking to destroy America's founding principles try so hard to separate the Declaration of Independence because without it their argument that rights come from man and not God becomes much easier to sell and lead us to the same failed systems that other nations have succumb to. Unfortunately these people are aided by ignorant people who parrot and perpetuate this misinformation. Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 6/25/15 re: James Madison quote Very well stated Mike, thank you. Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 6/17/15 re: George Bernard Shaw quote Shaw was a Fabian Socialist. Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 6/15/15 re: Philippus Aureolus Paracelsus quote Thoughts may have been free in his time but in today's politically correct /cultural Marxist (thought police) America you utter them at your own risk, reputation and your livelihood. "If liberals were merely stupid, the laws of probability would dictate that at least some of their decisions would serve America's interests." -- Joe McCarthy Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 6/3/15 re: Mencius quote Robert, do what is right in your own eyes not caring what the source is just as long as you gain that enlightenment for yourself. Seems similar to the original lie that Satan told in the garden, you will be as gods (little "g") knowing good and evil. It most certainly does matter where you GET IT lest you forget you have an adversary bent on destroying you! 1 Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 6/3/15 re: Mencius quote I would also add that a great man would be a good man and doesn't need a Teleprompter and the staff of writers to keep his lies in order, he would speak from his heart because his heart is true and isn't colored by propagated deceptions. What does that say for certain people who except and defend such obvious deceptions? 2 Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 6/2/15 re: John Locke quote Mike, Amen on your traffic cases a prime example are these gottsha traffic cameras municipalities have installed with an artificially low speed limit, the court has determined it violates due process under the Constitution and it clearly does so they get around that by making it a civil penalty run by an outside company that takes their cut off the top it's just a revenue-generating scam posing as safety. I would also add the part about the transfer of power and authority the prime example for that is how Congress relegated money powers to the Federal Reserve . Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 6/1/15 re: Ammon Hennacy quote Speaking of Mr. Hennacy, except for the tax resistance part the rest of his bio is cover for scatterbrain cowardice, possibly a dietary deficiency would explain it. "War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." - John Stuart Mill English economist & philosopher (1806 - 1873) 3 Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 5/28/15 re: Benjamin E. Mays quote Today's progressives and their clueless drone minions are more than happy to snuff that torch out and for most not fully realizing the negative impact their master's actions will have on themselves, not unlike the peasants of Russia experienced after the Bolshevik Revolution. The dream they were promised turned out to be a nightmare of misery and death."That no free government, or the blessing of liberty, can be preserved to any people but by a firm adherence to justice, moderation, temperance, frugality, and virtue, and by frequent recurrence to fundamental principles."-- George Mason, Virginia Declaration of Rights, Section XV [1776] 1 Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 5/26/15 re: Frederic Bastiat quote People should read the entire source for this quote, it was taken from (The Law) where he talks about legal plunder it is an excellent read. When our nation was first founded juries could deliberate and consider the FACTS as well as the LAW and if the jury felt that the law was unjust they could vote to acquit, this is called jury nullification today by judges/lawyers who have departed from Blackstone adopting a new form of Darwinian law. Today when judges give juries instructions they are told they can consider only the facts and that the judge will give them the law, ignorance has neutered the power of the jury but if a jury member is informed they are usually weeded out during the jury selection process, God for bid we have informed people in the jury room."When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it."-- French economist, statesman and author Frederic Bastiat (1801-1850) Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 5/21/15 re: American Civil Liberties Union quote I believe the organization was originally founded by a communist, which would explain a great deal. 90% of the time they are on the wrong side of common sense liberty and is merely a front organization. 1 Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 5/20/15 re: Aesop quote Unfortunately Mr. Edwards there is plenty of corruption and self-imposed national suicide to go around. Plenty of criticism for American politics that I cannot disagree with, but this was foreseen by our founders when they created our Constitution to be a limited small government. But when the government grows beyond its constitutional legal limits by corrupt and socialist-minded men, you are going to have corruption, it's inevitable. Now we have corporations getting in bed with big government "crony capitalism." But I must add that France has also engaged in self destruction by importing Islamic Jihad under the guise of multiculturalism and the diversity scam that you are now finding to have been a BIG mistake, good luck undoing it forward as it is happening in the US as well, I believe this is not by accident but rather design. Since America's founding as a constitutional republic we have had one constitution, this cannot be said for France I'm afraid. Corruption knows no borders for it is merely human nature and the natural law consequences of that fallen nature."Democracy will soon degenerate into an anarchy; such an anarchy that every man will do what is right in his own eyes and no man's life or property or reputation or liberty will be secure, and every one of these will soon mould itself into a system of subordination of all the moral virtues and intellectual abilities, all the powers of wealth, beauty, wit, and science, to the wanton pleasures, the capricious will, and the execrable cruelty of one or a very few." -- John Adams, An Essay on Man's Lust for Power (1763) 3 Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 5/11/15 re: George Pataki quote The quote is spot on! Thank you Mr. Archer, Norwalk Mike and especially Mr. Rearden of Burr Ridge for helping to point out the obvious truth. Self evidence has always been the blind spot for socialists / communists and their useful idiots that have been worked over by leftist demagogues like Howard Zinn. Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 5/8/15 re: Milton Friedman quote Talking about unconstitutionally growing government and Waffler wants to talk about deer hunting and not very well. LOL!! 😅 1 Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 4/30/15 re: Cyril James quote What do you say of a man that desires others (the government) to be responsible for him providing for all of his needs, what then becomes of his desire for liberty? Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 4/23/15 re: Charles Austin Beard quote Wafflers of the world unite and collectively ask "where is this damn forest you're talking about? These doggone trees are blocking my view." Simply put, there are none so blind then those who WILL NOT see. Like others of their kind through history the enablers and useful idiots will eventually find themselves at the end of the same bayonet that they helped forge. "Democracy will soon degenerate into an anarchy; such an anarchy that every man will do what is right in his own eyes and no man's life or property or reputation or liberty will be secure, and every one of these will soon mould itself into a system of subordination of all the moral virtues and intellectual abilities, all the powers of wealth, beauty, wit, and science, to the wanton pleasures, the capricious will, and the execrable cruelty of one or a very few." -- John Adams, An Essay on Man's Lust for Power (1763) Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 4/22/15 re: Hugo Adam Bedau quote I would add something else to this quote and that being if you want to do whatever you want even though it may be self-destructive DON'T SEND ME THE BILL FOR THE CONSEQUENCES, of course this is very difficult to do since we live in a welfare state."Democracy will soon degenerate into an anarchy; such an anarchy that every man will do what is right in his own eyes and no man's life or property or reputation or liberty will be secure, and every one of these will soon mould itself into a system of subordination of all the moral virtues and intellectual abilities, all the powers of wealth, beauty, wit, and science, to the wanton pleasures, the capricious will, and the execrable cruelty of one or a very few." -- John Adams, An Essay on Man's Lust for Power (1763) 1 Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 4/7/15 re: Lyn Nofziger quote The quotation nails it and offers a remedy too. The anonymous people here (and others) believe that the founding fathers in their time we're wrong and in so many words said that things are different now and the founders solution would not work today because times are different like most liberal thinking where basic human nature is discounted or just plain misunderstood. Our founding fathers thoroughly understood human nature but modern liberalism does not and that's the major problem with modern liberalism and why wherever it's implemented like in Detroit etc. etc. the outcome is always bad, not saying they are not well-meaning but their lack of understanding of basic human nature dooms their philosophy to eventual failure, getting them to see the problem with their philosophy and admit it is a mistake is almost impossible because of that damned Utopian dream of fairness and equality, they are thinking communism and socialism failed because WE were not doing it, our generation CAN make it work. Thus the big government and central planning solution to everything. 2 Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 3/27/15 re: John F. Di Leo quote The dumbing down of our people has made this transformation from our founding principles possible, cultural Marxism is deconstructing Western civilization and our young college skulls full of mush (from their Marxist professors) aren't capable of defending it or even inclined to. "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." 1 Reply Mike, Pleasant Hill 3/19/15 re: Neal Boortz quote Bull's-eye Mr. Archer! Our people have been so dumbed down through the progressive era starting with Wilson the term progressive got such a bad name they had to change it to liberalism to again pull the wool over the eyes of the people and when that is discovered they change the name again but the philosophy behind it is always the same a departure from natural law principles our country was founded on.
