Congress forgets themselves, and thus we forget, too. The American system of jurisprudence is supposed to protect us from power grabs from our government. Instead, Congress and the President assume they have the power to do whatever they pass a law to do. It doesn't work that way. There are well-drawn limits to what we have authorized Congress to do, and our 'representatives' have WAY exceeded their mandate.

Mike, Amen on your traffic cases a prime example are these gottsha traffic cameras municipalities have installed with an artificially low speed limit, the court has determined it violates due process under the Constitution and it clearly does so they get around that by making it a civil penalty run by an outside company that takes their cut off the top it's just a revenue-generating scam posing as safety.

I don't think I agree with Mr Locke here. The importance should be put on flexible minds and not inflexible laws with the vastness and complexity of the impending universe demanding our attention: progressive procedures will eventually cause everyone, everyone to eventually assume legislative capacity and responsibility. Democracy demands on all us to contribute.
