Folks...you have to take these quotes (right or wrong) in the proper CONTEXT. Sure, in modern capitalist America its absurd to even consider abolition of private property, but you have to remember that Marx and the people he represented were the oppressed and exploited by a corrupt system of that TIME and ERA and this was the backlash to that. A history of the noble and the wealthy owning their labor as so much chattel and treating them as such. Serfdom, ownership of people through debt, absolute monarchical rule and its centralization of power within the select members of a privileged "family" was at the core of what Marx was railing against. Monarchical centralization of power through THEIR ownership of property and capital was a real problem for the working class, if you don't know that you don't have any inkling of history.

As for the bitching and moaning about how this is word for word our "president" or "the direction of our country"....Prove it. Show us credible and reliable resources that prove beyond a shadow of doubt that your allegations are true, otherwise it's so much nutjob right-wing froth.

If ANYTHING, our country has evidenced more aspects of Fascism than Communism. And we have POSITIVE elements of Socialism (DIFFERENT than Pure Communism) in our country that we ALL benefit from. Education, public works, communication (phone and Internet), emergency services, police, military....and many more examples.
