Heinlein quote Yes Robert; we have eyes yet we are blind, we have a mind yet we are fools, we have a heart but it is cold. Reply Robert, Sarasota 5/8/06 re: Antoine De Saint-Exupery quote Its a double negative... 2Reply Robert, Sarasota 5/3/06 re: Fredrich August von Hayek quote Excellent, but I think we are all missing the point; quite simply, collectively you have power and individually you don't. Individuals only have power if they realize their collective individuality... that's another paradox for you Bill Reply Robert, Sarasota 5/3/06 re: Herman Hesse quote Everyone should read this before going to church on a Sunday, listening to government, or those mindless radio talk shows... 2 Reply Robert, Sarasota 5/3/06 re: Calvin Coolidge quote Calvin understood, alas so few do - don't stir the caldron in hope you cool its temper 12Reply Robert, Sarasota 5/1/06 re: James A. C. Brown quote Mr Brown forgot another; Republic-ism 2Reply Robert, Sarasota 4/28/06 re: Eric Hoffer quote Only a "Have" would make that statement. He has the statements the wrong way round... We love to put the poor and "have nots" in one happy bucket - it makes us feel jusified in not giving up a part of our wealth. Reply Robert, Sarasota 4/27/06 re: Eric Hoffer quote I thought he was talking about our present government and how we just sit back, go to church, and let them do our dirty work. And yes, E, one day the bell will toll for them. Reply Robert, Sarasota 4/24/06 re: Brian S. Wesbury quote Yes, so we are in dyer need of the third age of enlightenment - and please come soon... 1Reply Robert, Sarasota 4/21/06 re: William McAdoo quote Why is it that I'm always told by Republicans and wealthy men that debt doesn't matter - I thought they are meant to be conservative 12Reply Robert, Sarasota 4/14/06 re: Art Buchwald quote Just have 15% tax across the board on all income over and above expenditure with no exceptions except for those INDIVIDUALS 200% below FPL (no tax). Have a 10% retail tax and do away with all other tax and the IRS and have work detail (community services) for those individuals not paying their tax and take away the licence of company/corps to do business if tax is not paid within three months after the due date. 1Reply Robert, Sarasota 4/12/06 re: Ronald Reagan quote I always knew he was a Democrat... Reply Robert, Sarasota 4/3/06 re: John E. Rankin quote Good Terry and Archer: Like many Christian's, Socialist's, and advocates of the UN their hearts are in the right place; and after all the name calling, Pigeon holing, the people compromise and that is called reason, compassion (caring for those less fortunate) and equitability. It's quite funny really because most people with their hand out are either greedy or in real need - ask both what is socialism and they wouldn't be able to tell you. From the web: 1. Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy. 2. The stage in Marxist-Leninist theory intermediate between capitalism and communism, in which collective ownership of the economy under the dictatorship of the proletariat has not yet been successfully achieved. 3. Socialism: system of social organization in which property and the distribution of income are subject to social control rather than individual determination or market forces. 4. Market Socialism: economic system representing a compromise between socialist planning and free enterprise, in which enterprises are publicly owned but production and consumption are guided by market forces rather ... 5. Guild Socialism: a movement that called for workers' control of industry through a system of national guilds operating in an implied contractual relationship with the public. The Guild Socialist movement developed ... 6. National Socialism: totalitarian movement led by Adolf Hitler as head of the Nazi Party in Germany. In its intense nationalism, mass appeal, and dictatorial rule, National Socialism shared many elements with Italian ... 7. Christian Socialism: movement of the mid-19th century that attempted to apply the social principles of Christianity to modern industrial life. The term was generally associated with the demands of Christian activists 8. African Socialism: Socialist ideas were carried to North Africa mainly by French-educated African intellectuals; in addition, many French settlers, especially schoolteachers and civil servants, were Socialists or ... Just to name a few... Let's forget names for things and behave in a compassionate manner towards our fellow human beings Reply Robert, Sarasota 4/3/06 re: Henry Morgenthau quote Well said Archer and keep your thoughts coming Reston Reply Robert, Sarasota 3/31/06 re: A. J. P. Taylor quote The good book also said that you shall be stoned to death for wearing linen and cotton together - US Democracy is a joke - how can it not be when the US denies full representation, California with over 30 million having the same number of Senators as the smallest state. The US is winner take all... 18Reply Robert, Sarasota 3/30/06 re: John E. Rankin quote What a ridiculous statement not worth a reply. Editor, really… Reply Robert, Sarasota 3/30/06 re: James Paul Warburg quote Destiny is a funny thing - it doesn't always behave it's self. What is true is that we have the power to make change if we so desire - but that my dear friends is where the future lies. 4 Reply Robert, Sarasota 3/30/06 re: A. J. P. Taylor quote Great quote. What a great LIBERAL historian - his famous quote always reminds me that we will never learn the lessons of our forefathers - when asked if history is cyclical he replied "it was not history which repeats itself but historians who repeat each other" Like us mortals who never learn but continue to ravage our bed along with our bedfellows. Reply Robert, Sarasota 3/29/06 re: George Herbert Walker Bush quote O dear. O dear, O dear, we are still blind and as such will follow each over into abyss - when will we stop thinking like this? when will we start thinking of ourselves (the human race) as all belonging to the same family. I am very sorry for those those whose death song shall be the rhetoric I see above. When will compassion for all peoples begin? America is not a democracy and has never been. Our electoral system is one party dominant system and until that is changed we are on the road to implosion. We need to discuss electoral reform and get our own house in order before we criticize other counties – we are not so pure; in the 535 members of the United States Congress in the last 12 months 36 have abuse their wives, 7 have been arrested for fraud, 117 directly or indirectly bankrupt at least 2 companies, 71 cannot get credit card due to bad credit, 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges, 8 for shoplifting, and 84 have been arrested for drunk driving – the list goes on… As told by a Jewish person in Germany – "I stood by and watch them come for all my non-Jewish fiends and did nothing, and then one day they came for me." Reply Robert, Sarasota 3/28/06 re: George Herbert Walker Bush quote A United Nations Peace Keeping Force is a fantastic idea, unfortunately it's way ahead of its time - we are still animals and as such will be treated so. We are not ready for enlightenment - only anger and revenge seems to motivate us. Our rhetoric show quite simply that we have a long road ahead of us - if the human race survives I see hope, but we have not reached that tipping point yet... Reply Robert, Sarasota 3/27/06 re: State Department Paper 7277 quote America would go broke if we disarmed - Iraq has cost the US over $200billion and Iraq is in a worse mess today than ever before - freedom, what freedom, the women are now more oppressed than before, kids are getting slaughtered because they want to change their religion, a civil war is raging in Iraq. Iran and the terrorists will benefit from this mess, there are more terrorist today than ever before. Over 2300 of young US service personnel have been killed, 35,000 Iraqi women and children have been killed in the last two years. There were no WMD (the UN achieved that goal, then the US wanted the UN to come in and clean up their mess) There are so many other atrocities going on in the world which the US is not even thinking of helping (sorry, I forgot, none have any oil) China is not a democracy and there is no freedom there for the vast population - where are our tanks and guns to give them freedom (sorry, I forgot, they are our biggest trading partner). We are such hypocrites in the $US its made us blind to reality. How about a Department of Peace - what a novel idea... We as a nation are not ready to disarm (nor the rest of the world) and we will never be while our minds are bogged down with crap and we shoot Ducks and bash Baby Seals because it makes us feel good, We need to rethink our values and our methods of dealing with problems - not rush to the glove compartment for our 45 Reply Robert, Sarasota 3/24/06 re: James Paterson quote I give it three beacuase he was referring to the sword and to fight 1-1 is a thousand time braver than shooting with a gun. Give a man a knife and let him hunt the tiger and see how many brave people step forward. Guns are for cowards - I say no more.
