Whitney Griswold quote Griswold is a kook and so are a few responders here. What law is not Legislating Morality or for that matter intelligence? If the Evils of mankind and Stupidity did not exist we would have no need to legislate anything.! Fools. Reply StanLee, South Dakota 12/29/08 re: Charles Chiniquy quote Read the book, stay away from Chick. At the time when Charles Chiniquy wrote this book the "Church" was the enemy of all forms of freedom and free thinking. Chiniquy as a boy was not allowed to read the bible or even posses one. Neither was he allowed to read it when going to school to become a priest in the "Church" . Freedom of thought was not allowed. Has the Church changed, Yes. But I believe only for its survival, and if it can ever move back to its position of control of the people, it stands ready. 1 Reply StanLee, South Dakota 4/25/08 re: Hugo Adam Bedau quote You said it Mike! " ...it only has duties to protect the sovereign individual's life, liberty, property, authority, rights, powers, and privileges, and act in matters a criminal jurisprudence as defined by the God of Nature or natural law. This would include my right as well as my childrens' rights to live in an environment where individuals are not engaging in "whatever conduct they want to, no matter how deviant or abnormal" Simply put no matter what type of deviant or abnormal behavior it is when it becomes accepted as normal or okay it does harm to all those nearby. Who in their right mind thinks it would think their rights, as mike pointed out, would be secure being the only sober person in a city of heroin addicts. Further more who would think a nation could remain secure with an attitude of what feels good to me is acceptable and who cares about by duty to Good and Country. Bye Bye USA! F'n Professors! Reply StanLee, South Dakota 4/24/08 re: Justice Byron R. White quote I would love to see the context in which this quote was made. I certainly hope Justice White is not attempting to justify or excuse Illegal drugs on the premise of legal drug abuse. 24Reply StanLee, South Dakota 4/23/08 re: Joel Miller quote "that means they are at liberty to foul up their lives" Really? At what point then does the liberty to foul up there own lives become detrimental to our society therefore our nation. "Liberty is a word which, according as it is used, comprehends the most good and the most evil of any in the world. Justly understood it is sacred next to those which we appropriate in divine adoration; but in the mouths of some it means anything, which enervate a necessary government; excite a jealousy of the rulers who are our own choice, and keep society in confusion for want of a power sufficiently concentered to promote good." -- Oliver Ellsworth My childrens' rights as guaranteed by the United States Constitution and drafted in the Declaration of Independence include the right to be safe in their homes and in the public the fruit cakes on drugs are violating these rights as guaranteed by the Constitution. I should not have to worry about some drugged up moron running over my child as she rides her bike down the bike path. Which is exactly what has happened to four small children recently here in our state. I should not have to worry about some stupid dope fiend shooting up the neighborhood at some drug party gone wrong which is exactly what happened not two blocks from my home my children could have been hit from a stray bullet. Maybe the War on Drugs is not properly executed in the US but until drugs are gone from our society we MUST do something!!! We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. Reply StanLee, South Dakota 1/15/08 re: Mahatma Mohandas K.
