Violation of law requires enforcemet action. The breaking of any lqaw can have the results he describes. Whether marijuana should be legal like tobacco is a different question. Trying to gain sympathy for "innocent marijuana" at the expense of "evil law enforcement" is a sick and miserable ploy. 2 Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/21/08 re: Terence McKenna quote Form a political point of view it would appear that this quote could be used to do away with all drug enforcemnet. Eliminate pharmacist and controls on medications altogether. I don't think that would be a good idea. We all know that folks need protection. Should it go as far as the weed, I dunno. 4Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/18/08 re: Ronald Reagan quote He was a master Jim at deceiving the American people, that is not stupid, it is evil. And evil can be very intelligent. It is in the end the American people that were stupid. What do you call someone who gets into the kind of debt this nations government is in? 2Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/18/08 re: Fisher Ames quote We are not free Archer to excercise all of the power we have at our command. We must be discrete in the exercise of our power. Thus we are not truly "free". We however freer in democracy than in any other form of government. Ask the Iraqis who were giddy with freedom when they were able to vote. 15Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/18/08 re: Woodrow Wilson quote Obviously Wilson was putting down the conspiracy theorists of his day. Conspiracy theories come from the uneducated and unaware mentality of those who wish to actually control things in just their own way and thus anything or issue of which they are unaware upsets their apple cart view of things. Thet see it as some kind of conspiracy agaisnt them. Education and awareness is the answer. 3Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/18/08 re: Daniel Webster quote Better than going to work with a bologna sandwich in your pail and having to lug home a brick of gold every day. Then ya got lug that brick all over town to git yo needs. Thats no fun either. Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/17/08 re: United States Supreme Court quote Slavery was legal under the original Constitution. Slavery is no longer legal under the Constitution. is what I meant to say Mike. What the Constitution meant when it was adopted it does no longer mean in regard to slavery. Is this diffcult to understand? It therefore would appear that Powers left to the states or the people could also be taken away and given to United States via amendment as long as the Bill of Rights are not trampled on. Not to worry Amendments are no easy task to get adopted. Thank God. 4Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/17/08 re: Fisher Ames quote Churchill a socialist? What Fisher is saying is that in a democracy each individual limts the other by the use of the vote. Thus stalemate. Every one is a little bit free, no one is absolutely free. If one person or group of persons is absolutely free they can step on everyone else's freedom. So where is the freedom in absolute freedom for a few. Saddam Hussein and Adolph Hitler were absolutely free to have their own way. Is that your idea of freedom Mike? Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/17/08 re: United States Supreme Court quote Except as the Constitution is changed by subsequent Amendments. A major exception ot Jefferson's "law". How could he miss that point? 2Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/17/08 re: Fisher Ames quote The greatest amount of liberty is obtained by those who can dictate their own lives and choices. The ability to so dictate is limited by ones proximity to others. Democracy gives one this opportunity until you bump up against your fellow citizen. If there is a nexus or connection between LIBERTY and political style of government, I believe there is greater LIBERTY to be had in Democracy than in Monarchy or Dictatorship. At least in democracy you have some say (one vote) over the limits to your freedom that you will accept. "Democracy is the worst type of government in the world, except for all of the others." Winston Churchill Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/17/08 re: James A. Traficant, Jr. quote If the shoe fits wear it! I did not say any winners or losers cannot understand "large enterprize". Logan I said some. Guys with no idea of governement, educational systems, military, infrastructure, agriculture, or the size of this countries economy, in short guys who cannot see beyond self get elected to Congress. When they do they are shocked that this is a big nation, economy, and enterprize and they cannot handle it. Logan I am calling everyone out since I said, "anyone can be elected to congress", that includes you kid! Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/17/08 re: Martin Gross quote I don't care what labels you attach to the other 30 industrialized countries but the facts remain. Many folk visit, immigrate and enjoy the other countries, their economies, culture and life styles. Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/17/08 re: Martin Gross quote The US Dollar is the preferred currency throughout the world. It may be lousy because it is paper currency but it is the best paper currency in the world. 5Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/16/08 re: Ronald Reagan quote What a guy! Usually when we pay something to someone the receipient is the person doing the work. Such is the case here! When is the last time you sat down and added up what you got from your government. I bet never. Reagan is the quintessential example of Senator John Danforth's dictum quoted the other day: "We (the politicians) have sold our soul's and nation into bankruptcy in order to get elected." Reagan buffaloed a lot of people and the memory of him still is, but such foolishness is the only way he could get into government. Lord knows he could never have passed a Civil Service Examination. Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/16/08 re: Martin Gross quote Lying with statistics. What this says is that the US taxes were well below that of other countries. A little catch up simply makes the stats look bad. Bowsher quote More evidence of what 12 years of Reagan and Bush The First's negligent leadership did! 1Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/15/08 re: James A. Traficant, Jr. quote Traficant is living proof that anyone can get elected to Congress. These folks no nothing about large enterprize let alone about the largest economy, government institutions etcetera and then they go to Washintong and can't handle it. Traficant sounds much like some commentators here with his inabilty to grasp large ideas and enterprize. 11Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/15/08 re: John C. Danforth quote I liked Danforth. An honest man, not like the fraudsters Reagan and Bush, "read my lips no new taxes" in order to get elected and then they sell 10 trillion dollars of bonds to put us into bankruptcy and enrich their already rich friends. I agree. As usual we will have to pay and let us start with the people who have the money. End the tax cuts for the rich! Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/15/08 re: United States Supreme Court quote Thanks editor. Mike you and Archer can argue about whether case law prior to 1934 is valid. I think it is and since Farmer predated and gave rise to the 16th Amendment which allows for direct taxation and thus for the income tax you have again DONE HALF A JOB in your research. You state case law in Farmer to prove your opinion and then you say case law is of little or no effect. (I think what you want to say is case law is good even minority opinons are good if you agree with them.) Archer, if I am not mistaken, often elaborates on English Common Law well that is what case law is in this country. Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/15/08 re: United States Supreme Court quote You are full of it Archer. Ever heard of Marbury Vs. Madison etcetera. Can you prove your assertion about prior to 1934. If you can it will be the very first thing you have ever proved. Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/15/08 re: United States Supreme Court quote Archer a majority opinion becomes case law, a minority opinion does not. Sorry but you are wrong again. Their word is law if it is the majority word. Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/15/08 re: United States Supreme Court quote The quote should be attributed to its author. The Supreme Court only speaks with decisons. This was not a decision but apparently an opinion of someone either a Judge or lawyer and it should be made clear. Mike if it is a decision can you give me the case citation. If it is a decision can you explain when and why we are still paying almost 3 trillions of dollars into the Federal Government via direct income personal, corporate, estate and gift, and excises taxes on trucking, gasoline, etcetera. Mike I also responded to your questions in the previous days quotes about IRS Budget etcetera. Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/15/08 re: United States Supreme Court quote Judges do make case law (which is a large majority of the law extant in this country) but only by majority opinion. The editor should be careful in placing quotes on this site without proper identification. Folks can think such a thing is some kind of law or somethig. The quote Archer does not say it is from one Judge, it says that it is from the Supreme Court, not the same thing. Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/15/08 re: United States Supreme Court quote Mike and Warren I responded to your questions in the previous days quotes. Please read my answers to your questions there. The short answer is that Income tax accounts for about 60% of the cash flow to Uncle Sam 50 personal and 10 corporate. SS accounts for 33 percent. Mike your question about IRS Budget is that it is around 11 billion and the IRS brings in around 2.5 to 3 trillion. Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 4/14/08 re: United States Supreme Court quote Good quote. See my comments concerning the next quote. Many quotes on this site can be taken wrong by the unsuspecting including attributing quotes to the Supreme Court as if the quote is or has become law. If the quote was made by a Justice in a minority opinion it is not law. If made by a lawyer before the court is even more worthless. Lets be careful here.
